Hey guys, looks like a great board you all have here. First, I guess I'll give my quick background info with my specific question which I will get to. I first smoked on 4/20 of last year (9th grade), and have been doing it on and off ever since. But I never really started "getting into it" I guess you could say, until recently. As a result, I basically just smoked whatever anyone gave me, and never took the initiative to learn the specifics about types of weed and some weed paraphanalia. I'm admitting that I'm a novice smoker, and just wanted some info. on a few things that I have questions about (much of the other basic stuff I have figured out). Just clearing this up so I don't come off as a poser, or someone who just wants to smoke to try and be cool.

My question concerns blunts. Are there any differences between the type of cigars you buy (ie is there any different techniques you must use when rolling a Philly, a Dutchmaster, or a Swisher, or is the basic rolling technique the same for all cigars?) Which kind of cigar do you reccomend to a beginner like me to start rolling blunts with? I have smoked a few blunts before, and they were rolled when I was around, but honestly I was too ignorant to actually pay attention to what my friend was doing to roll the blunt. I can say that I enjoyed smoking them though. Edit: And should you use any type of filter when smoking blunts, (or joints for that matter)?

Any help is appreciated. I haven't smoked weed at all in about 2 and a half months, and in that time have been doing more research on the subject, to educate myself on the subject. I plan on heading to the local headshop sometime soon to pick up a glass pipe, and know people who could deal to me and not rip me off. Again, sorry if this type of thread was already made, but I wanted a single thread where I could refer back to. Sorry if the questions come off as too novice like, but the main idea is just to be able to enjoy weed as much as you guys, thanks for your help.

if i use a cigar i usually use a swisher. but for blunts i usually get blunt wraps. they're more moist and i just like rolling them better. remember when rolling a blunt to have your pointer fingers in front so you can see and your thumbs on the bottom rolling toward you. just focus and keeping it very moist once you get it rolled and it should stick together well. you dont have to use a filter but i always have, it just hits easier and keeps the blunt/joint more even. (spiraling a strip of notecard works very well)

good luck! novice questions are fine around here. there will always be someone willing to answer any of your questions

if im gonna roll a blunt i like to use royal blunt if its a wrap, if its a cigari go white owl since thats the only thing ive rolled with.

but there isnt a whole big difference between what you use to roll a blunt. Just try some wraps and cigars and find out what you like best.

if you use a dutch dont forget to unravel the leaf, and wrap it back on afterwards

Thanks for the help guys. After looking at some, the blunt wraps do seem more efficient, though I suppose I could try it both ways once getting the hang of it. So, correct me if I'm wrong, with a blunt wrap, you wouldn't have moisten (lick, I guess), the blunt until the end of the rolling process just to make it stick, while with the cigar method you would have to lick the cigar before dumping the tobacco? If I'm wrong, could someone explain the moistening tehcnique you must do, and when to do it? Thanks, and again, sorry for the novice questions.

no you don't have to moisten anything until the end to make it stick

as long as its not like flaking apart or somethin

I always lick blunts before taking the leaf off. How can you unwrap a dry leaf?

Easy way. Go to gas station. Buy a buy 1 get 1 free blunt wrap. Roll it up and smoke. I would never go with an actual cigar

Yeah man, wraps are definitely easier and faster and you don't have to dump any tobacco.

wraps are gross and taste like chemicals, start rolling with Dutchmasters and you wont be sorry. yes you have to like it before you take off the leaf because it will just flake apart. its a much better smoother smoke out of a real leaf than a blunt wrap.

if you really want to use wraps, try the biggy smalls wraps, it comes with 2 wraps, a leaf, and a re-seal able package.

I dont like the way blunt wraps taste. I prefer a plain swisher cigarillo for less paper and no bullshit taste.

I would recommend blunt wraps for beginners, but watch out for and stems cause they will poke a hole in the side of the wrap.

i would agree that blunt wraps suck. they´re all about aroma and not flavor. the only flavor you get is from the aroma it gives off. it can smell amazingly like blueberries, but then taste like moist burning. gross.

go with a real cigar. that´s where all the flavor is. as far as which kind to get, go with whatever size and flavor you´d like. also, depending on where you get your cigar, choose a fresh one. if you´re in a gas station or some place, go for one out of the fullest box/container. that probably means they´re newer. i would say that freshness trumps brand any time.

and i´ve never licked the outer leaf to be able to get it off. i just peeled it off. once you have it cut open and emptied, it´s real easy to roll because it already has that shape. just try to keep it rolled tight as you go.

honey can work well to help seal it if you´re having trouble. but use the smallest amount possible. whatever you´re thinking of using, use less than that. otherwise it´ll take forever to dry.

    happy smoking!

i've only ever rolled blunts with dutches or games (both using the outer leaf technique). I'd like to try wraps and phillys/swishers/white owls. I can say that, for me at least, dutches are very easy to roll once you get the hang of taking off the outer leaf and everything. I personally have never wrecked a dutch, which is pretty hard to do because even if you do a shit job rolling the inner leaf, you can salvage the blunt by doing a tight wrap with the outer leaf. It seems to me that the green leaf games burn slower than say a honey dutch master. Can't speak for green leaf dutch masters, never tried one.
