or even so much as help develop punk rock. They played surfer music that you could mosh to. They're so called impact on the punk scene is famed only by their few hits such as "What I like about you" "Blitzkreig Bop" and to an even lesser extent "Cretin Hop"
I know you kids like to wear your shirts and raise your fist anytime you hear so much as Ra- but you have to face facts, they were not that influential. Did they have good songs, sure. But what did they do besides play a different form of the Beach Boys. Listen to the music not the hype people. You want influential? Try DK, Try the Clash, try the Sex Pistols. All three as well known as the Ramones and a million times more influence on the scene than those four kids with bad hair and leather jackets could ever achieve.

 

punk died before you were born teenboy. all you can do is research what it was and listen to bands that are living in the past. get off the high horse. next tell ol'hippie about hippies. you make as much sense, having done all that reading.

Well when you hang out in clubs talking to people who were my age in '82 and they tell you about that sort of thing you kinda tend to believe them, especially when you hear it over and over. The general concensus is "They were good but over-rated." As for the whole punk is dead thing, thats an argument I wont even get into anymore. Its a pointless battle of people who grew out of the scene vs people who still loved it. Blah blah blah, your to young to know what your talking about blah blah blah. Gimmie something new scenester =D
