no, but it's super slack. go to bc, and you can litteraly smoke outside those cafes. never been there myself, but i got friends telling me how great it is. where i live (ontario), you gotta be pretty discreet about it, but i've smoked a joint down a street many times, and no one cares. the only time i see kids get busted for weed is when they have it at school, so just don't bring it to school if you live in canada (or anywhere for that sake).

In B.C. I know in nelson particularly, its highly tolerated. Getting caught smoking a joint on the open street would result in the cops giving you a little "go around the corner with that." Theres a restaurant that sells a 420 wrap, and a few other things that hint at an almost 'legal' nature of marijuana. A friend of mine up there got caught on the side of the road with 4 ounces, and the cops just took it away. He was telling me his friend got caught with 90lbs and only got 18 months too. So I think its pretty tolerated in most parts. That dude had a straight up 2 ounce jar of Green Crack too, the cannibis cup winner for 06' i think. My best friend:)

toronto is actually really good now, pretty much smoke openly and most cops are educated about mj, parks, under trees in near busy intersections, as long as you dont do stupid stuff then no one cares, but if you are being an ass it just gives them a reason to bust you

Where I am in Ontario, the cops in this town seem to want to get pot smokers, especially in the parks. I usually smoke joints, pipes and even bongs while walking from point A and B without a problem, just near places like parks and main streets you have to watch out for...

Hmm I'm wondering how are they here in Montreal? I mean if it's so cool out there in Toronto and BC, I'm wondering how is it here. I mean what would cops do to you, anyone has experience here in Montreal? Because it looks like in Toronto and BC it's pretty cool.

if anyones visiting toronto, the hotbox cafe is a good place to go hang out and smoke a joint when the weather is pleasant. they dont sell pot there, of course, and you cannot sell it to other patrons.

it is a cafe and since you can't buy pot there they still have to be profitable, so if you go in you should buy something. in the couple times i went there to hang out the service was god awful but the stuff i got (when i finally got it. i literally waited over an hour for a fucking smoothie. just fruit and ice, maybe some yogurt in there. seriously, over an hour for a smoothie....the unfortunate part of a pot-friendly cafe in this instance was a totally incapable staff)

i saw marc emery having a meeting with some people there smoking a joint.

from the sound of what folks are saying, my guess would be that the place is still in business. i had fun and met wierd people there a few years ago. it was cool, but not that big a deal. i just went there cause i knew it was as safe as anywhere else and i would be able to meet and hang out with some fellow smokers from different places and different walks of life.

also theres some good museums and shows and all sorts of stuff. that trip was great....got a quarter first day of five in canada....first three days were in stratford, ontario for the shakespeare festival where i saw two plays (i can't remember what i saw for sure....but i know when there i've seen great productions of the merchant of venice, twelfth night, henry V, and a couple others - i've been twice) and the second two days were in toronto.

great trip, as every trip to canada that i've taken has been

I smoked a joint tonight in the smoking patio of a ba, not sneaky about it eitherr. I went out for a smoke and didnt have a lighter, so I asked this random gay guy wearing a cowboy hat to let me use his, he lit my cig, and asked me to button the middle button of his vest. Apparently he fell in love with me, as ked me if I smoked weed, and just gave me half of his joint. Then he asked me if I would go dance with him, that he loves me and that I should go meet his best friend, but I left after that.
He was funny and he gave me half a joint, so Im happy. Another gay guy fell in love with my hair, I love gay guys, they make me feel pretty :)

Montreal is really good about pot. The police don't really care, and the frenchies love it. The west island (ddo, pierrefond, etc) is probably the most lax, just don't smoke in the parks. My friend got caught with 7g's and the cop just told him to through it down the sewer. Montreal almost as weed friendly as BC.
