noob grow question

just wondering which side of tinfoil to use?
i assumed shiny but i heard somthing about that being wrong

 

i wouldnt use tin foil jus sum matt white paint would be better

Tinfoil will not reflect enough light and will create hot spots that can burn your plants. Flat white paint is best.

 

would tinfoil be alright if i am using fluorescents though?

 

tin foil won't hurt if you use the dull side, but it still won't be very reflective

 

gloss white paint is much more reflective than foil

 

sorry for thread jacking but I have a closet all flat white but i need to use something to keep the light it cuz its got folding doors with those vents in it and mylar is wayyy to expensive. so what can i use

 

Use white/black plastic sheeting and a staple gun.

Try using the white side.

 

i read in a thread sumwhere that u can get wrappin paper thats like mylar never used it tho

No Prob! The plastic is pretty cheap. A decent grow shop will let you buy it by the foot. If I remember it comes in ~ 7'+ length x (width you chose).
