    If you think this post is directed at you (plural) then it probably is.

    I am not trying to tell you not to say what you want or need to say. I am of the opinion that you can say what you want to say in a nicer more polite way. This forum should be open and comfortable for children, grandmothers, and other nice folks, and if it makes me not want to post, then i'm sure it makes others not want to post.

    I am only trying to help, and i am trying to say this in the nicest way i know how.

    This forum is dominated (numerically by number of post) by a relative few, and i for one hope for the most civil vibration possible.

    Let me add that i apologize if i have ever been crass, or gauche, or just plain rude, and i will attempt to be constantly vigilant.

    why not contact these people via pm? Posting something like this just creates more drama. What was your point with this post?

    Peace

    As a high-poster on this forum, I will say that I find it a mite rude that you would make such a classification by post number; tho I don't feel as if you were directing the post at me since I am rarely rude, as far as I know anyways.

    And I have agree with Bumble about PMing when you have a problem with someone. Since Rainbow is so diverse, there are going to be differences of opinion & personality & sometimes I have found it more helpful to 'talk' to someone via PM than dealing with it in a public venue

    Just click his username on any of his posting, at the top left corner. On the pop menu click Personal Profile, then use Contact Us under Forum Options near the top of the page. They'll soon be history. You can also click add (name) to my ignore list,on the right side and about a third of the way down.

    i really dont see where a number of posts has anything to do with anything..
    logic dictates that if one has been a member since the last forum crash,2004 they are going to have far more posts than someone who has only been here a few months.

    also many here enjoy participating in all the forums here not just this one,therefore they are bound to have more posts..

    if your referring to this forum in particular,there really aint no one that posts any more than anyone else.

    as far as nice things to say,,i suppose whats nice is in the eye of the beholder..
    and i whole heartedly agree with olympic bullshitter, if ya dont like what someone has to say put them on ignore. or if you feel they have broke forum guidelines report them..

    but dont go making some vague post about people that have high numbers of posts and insinuate they are all rude..

    as for me,, i dont sugar coat anything,i aint out to make granma biscuits an little timmy comfortable, if they dont like what i type fuckem,they aint gotta look at it...

    i could care less what they think anyway...

    but yeah, if your gonna call someone out,at least have the balls to personalize it.
    dont make some shadowy gutless post making generalizations....

    its just not a very mature way of doin things IMO...

    have a nice day.....

    the best definition of Irony the i know is: when the current use is the opposite of the original intent.

    Ironic that I posted this way to keep from offending anyone or making a personal issue of what I thought was a public situation, and accomplished the opposite.

    sorry to have bothered you. Just trying to help

    Perhaps talking to somebody in a PM that you are having trouble with would be better than grouping all of us. I am really never rude, however I speak my mind, but am courtious about the way I speak it. Hope you get your problems worked out ~

    just what is this "public situation" you are so concerned about??

    perhaps if you could give a direct example of what you deem rude and a "public situation" one could better address your comments...

    otherwise,,

    you make no sense at all....

    Succulent Flower, I can not imagine what imagine what i have done to owe you an apology, but I assure you I take it seriously.

    Let me take this moment to tell you that if I ever get a bit strong in my opinions, I try not to use derogatory statements, but stick to the issues. I see those as two different genre.

    I don't think strong opinions are something to apologize for, if they are stated politely and stick to the point/issues.

    I have no idea when I might have been derogatory, or ad hominem (attacking the person not the point), but if I was I was wrong to do so. If you would like to refresh my memory in private (or public) then feel free to contact me.

    Wracking my brain, but still can't think of when i might have used derogatory or ad hominem or inflammatory language, but of course part of my original point was that we should be considerate of others feelings, and willing to listen to their concern. In conflict resolution classes the Quakers teach that violence (even insults) are largely in the eye of the insulted.
    Sometimes it can be quite innocuous. In one of the workshops each person(A) is asked to pre-chose a word (in private) they think is insulting and one they think is complementary that others(B) might find a surprising value. Often we find two people in the same workshop with opposite entries.
    For instance. One fellow (A) picked "same" as complementary, and "different" as insulting. In the same workshop another fellow picked "different" as complementary and "same" as insulting.
    The result would have been nearly impossible to predict in advance, but fairly easy to work through if folks where willing. No sugar coating or avoidance of subject matter needed, just a little compassion and courteous communication.
    I hope your perception of a needed apology is more of this caliber and not of the former (derogatory or ad hominem).

    Again, please feel free to contact me if you think you want or need to.

    Rereading my original post on this thread I see that I already made a blanket apology to all. So now you have two. PM me if you would like a third and more elucidated personal apology.

    I really like what patch said...It's just saying "sorry if i've ever been mean" and "Let all try to get along". What in the world is terrible about it??? I would like to be nice! I'm on board. Blessed be and loving vibrations, toleration, and peace. (I'm not a goody-goody...just can't help being a somewhat wholesome virgo type) Anyway...i love you all!

    Classic 'you' HHB, just classic [IMG] If I could get your permission to use this shortened version of your post in my sig, I'd much appreciate it, with proper credit given of course.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Patch, bro, I am suspicious of any post which begins: 'If you think this post is directed at you (plural) then it probably is.' because it is a confrontational statement; besides the fact that you thread title 'Do you ever say anything nice?' is accusatory...especially since there are people of this forum who regularly post happy, hugs-to-all type posts just to get a good vibe rollin'. Lots of good converstions happen here IMO, and I think the people are very polite compared to other forums I have visited. .
    But I don't think you meant to be confrontational or anything Patch; I think that maybe you don't visit the forum enough to get to know the folks who hang here....I mean most of us don't hang just at the Rainbow forum, I think internet postings are very one dimensional & when I run into folks on the other forums I get to see other sides of them.
    Oh & I don't expect any apologies here, no need to apologize for expressing an opinion; I was giving you insight into one person's point of view.
