i work at a nursery, and we had a whole bunch of iris bulbs that no one bought and they arnt looking all that great so they just gave them to me, but i was wondering if i planted them now do you think they will sprout in the spring? I have about 160 bulbs my day time high is around 50 and low is 30 do they need a longer cold period to sprout in the spring or should they be fine?

irises shouldn't have any problems spouting or flowering in the spring. the cold period only has to be about 6 weeks long. if your nursery is selling them and they're grown locally they should be just fine. you're lucky to be the recipient of 160 irises.

thats good im glad. I am having a hard time finding places to plant them all, i am even giving them away to some people and i dont know if ill be able to give them all away, i might think about putting them in some one gallon buckets with some soil and sell them for some extra money in the spring when they are nice and purdy.

Just don't plant them too deep and don't crowd them.
