I'm sorry to hear that about your mom. Do you know any further specifics about it, like what caused it? And how is it manifesting itself? Is she using an oxygen tank? I am not very familiar with it but I'll be sending some good vibes your mother's way.

Hi, I'm new here but a long time acquainted with both COPD and lung disease. I found my best help with alternative medicine, though I also use oxygen at night and inhalers, one long term and the other for asthma attacks. Sometimes it progresses rapidly, sometimes people have it for years and the progression is very slow. I believe it depends partly on how you handle it, both physically and spiritually.
I've done some pretty wierd things (in some people's opinion) to get better. But I was under a deadline - 4 yrs to live with multiple lung problems COPD, PEG and other issues.
Went to an MD - wanted to do a biopsy and lung transplant. No thanks. He did prescribe the oxygen and inhalers. Oxygen can heal, inhalers just mask symptoms.
Had accupuncture and body talk. Some help there, especially body talk. She new as much about what was going on in my lungs as the Dr. did through xrays. It's a long term process, but it gets to root causes of the problem (not just smoking by the way).
Went on an Ayurvedic diet along with herbs for lung function. This was excellent. Ayurveda is the food side of Yoga. Check it out.
Went to a Shaman. Best thing I ever did. Have followed shamanic practice for three years now to clean up my spirit body.
Started weight workouts . Excellent to strengthen the breathing muscles.
Detox programs, liver cleansing and digestive enzymes to clean up my physical body.
Bottom line is I believe COPD is the body screaming toxic overload in everything from what you eat, breath, think and believe.
It may not be the solution for your mom, depending on how she feels about these things. I found them in desperation. I can only say they really worked for me.
