Well, as with most cases full albums are standard for listening purposes. There are three full length cd's by Shpongle: Are You Shpongled?, Tales of the Inexpressable, and Nothing Lasts but Nothing's Lost. There is also a Remixes cd and a few singles floating around from Twisted and TIP compilation mixes. Plus there are many many related projects pre and post Shpongle (The Infinity Project, Hallucinogen, Younger Brother) with good records out there.

Eat Static (the band). If you like Shpongle, these guys dont have the long intros and stuff sometimes i find myself fastforwarding when listening to Shpongle. Its straight electronic/psychadelic trance. Listen to them (Declassified is a great Eat Static album), i think they are an Ozric Tentacles side project either that or a Shpongle side project i cant remember lol. Ozric Tentacles is another Shpongle like band that im sure you would enjoy if you havent already

I would recommend the song called "Once upon a sea of blissfull awareness". I just love that one, her voice is amazing. Then there is of course "My head feels like a frisbee". But I think you already have many of the best songs, my alltime favourites are Star shpongled banner and Once upon a sea of blissfull awareness.

Shpongle was at symbiosis this summer and I was expecting it to be an awesome set, but I was kinda let down. He was just letting his computer play.

Hallucinogen In Dub played right before Shpongle, and they were very good.

How often are they in the U.S.? It seems like all of their shows are out of the country.

    Some Good Psychedelic Downtempo records:

    -Are You Shpongled
    -Tales of the Inexpressible
    -Nothing Lasts but Nothings Lost
    -Hallucinogen In Dub- OTT
    -Mystical Experiences- The Infinity Project
    -Lifeforms- Future Sound of London
-My Kingdom- Future Sounds of London
    -Orbus Terrarum- The Orb

-Any of Younger Brother's records, or Bluetech, or Entheogenic have alot of really good elements, though they have some slight cheese on them too.

I haven't heard that record, I have only heard the first album, Twisted. Twisted is pretty hard PsyTrance, there isn't much of the Ambient or World influences that Shpongle developed, but that super clear Simon mix is definately present.

Still, PsyTrance (1200 Mics, Astral Projection, Infected Mushroom) doesn't do that much for me, it all sounds the same. It is the same bass and drums on every track, and then a bunch of really good synth tones on top. It has good energy, but it doesn't yield much listening value to me, and I feel really lame listening to it after awhile, even when I'm partying. Speaking of partying, my DJ sets used to consist only of PsyTrance and Goa; it is such easy music to mix and mash up because every fucking track is 140-145 bpm, but I guess it just started to wear on my ears... plus dropping most of my "extra-curricular activities" of consciousness expansion most likely took some of the fun out, but so is life.

    lol....dont you just love acid.
-ive said the same thing a hundred times when i see a concert tripping...The Everyone Orchestra for example.....there was like almost 10 musicians on the stage at one time it was ridiculous. all but one member of Toubab Krewe (amazing afro/world/ethnic beat shit), Todd Stoops (crazy psychadelic keys from RAQ), Jason Hann (live breakbeat/improv drummer from EOTO), Tim Carbone (violin...which sounds weird but he had some really trippy effects on it and really meshed well ..hes from the jamgrass band Railroad Earth), Jamie f*^%ing Janover, the best livetronica and amazing musician in the world. plays dulcimer and other things with the best electronic band ever...ZILLA....hes basically Keanu Reeves. i could go on too. there was more people involved, and together they just created the most incredible musical experience that involved nearly all types of music and well.....when i was sittin there fucked up lets just say i felt pretty damn lucky to say the least....

But yeah, Shpongle.....gotta love Shpongle lol

I got Tales of the Inexpressable the other day for $3 at a second hand cd place, only had a few tracks before then. Great cd played it a few times so far :p I look forwards to eating some shrooms and giving it a listen in a few months once the season kicks in :p
