    How many cubic millimeters in one litre?

    A mm³ is a µL, a millionth of a litre.

    Put it this way. A liter is a cube with sides of 10 centimeters, so 10^3 or 1000 cubic centimeters. A centimeter is 10 millimeters, so there are 1000 cubic millimeters in a cubic centimeter. Multiply the two together, and you get a million cubic millimeters in one liter, though Leopold probably answered this much more painlessly.
