have you ever bought hemp, beads, and spent an hour making it?
btw the 2 bib necklaces took 4 hours each. who works four hours for 5 bucks?

 

I'm with Seahorse on that one. People don't realize that besides buying the material your time and work goes into each piece. I've just started doing beading and wire wrap. Never realized how much it cost.

 

The places I go for hemp and beads are dirt cheap and if you get good at it you can roll out necklaces and ankle braclets really fast. I don't know about 5 bucks for a necklace but no more then 12(and that would have to have a lot of really nice beads in it) I don't think I have spent more then 30 bucks on materials and I have made a hell of a lot of stuff. You just have to find the best places to get stuff and work on speed.
