No need for subtlety here. The more direct you are, the more honest it is. Dive in, chat her up, see if theres mutual interest, and say 'what's your number?' My advice, don't worry about giving her your number first. Most women won't call. But in the event she shoots ya down, give her your number, say 'think about it.' Smile and depart cordially.
NEVER! (or should I say, "last resort"...lol) When women ask me for my number I say, "I don't do that. Have a good one." It's a matter of whether she wants to talk to you or not. If she WAS going to call, I'd have her fucking ID number on my cell anyway, so why play games? Follow lode's advice. Also, act as though it's a fait acompli...take your phone out of your pocket AS you ask her. But it's probably better to play no gimmicks... One thing that WILL help you tremendously though, is if you SUGGEST a date on the spot: "I wonder if we can go for apple-cider this Friday? (flip phone open) What's your number again?" Ugh, I hate little dating gimmicks. Yuck! But if you must, that's how you gotta do it.
