Michael, I don't see that your entire house placements are "wrong"- you just have several planets very close to the cusps, so it's a very fine line for interpretation. Also, if your birth time is off by even one or two minutes, very probably those several plantets would be in the "next house", I'd be inclined to think this is perhaps the case, and that it is your birth time that may be the culprit. Unless the hospital was using a 100% accurate clock, it really is quite conceivable the time was "off" by a couple of mins. Sun, Neptune and Moon are in question here, and if the time was indeed a bit off, these would perhaps find themselves in the "next house", where you would intuitively expect them to be. Also bear in mind that different house systems produce different results, and I use the Equal House system, having moved away from Campanus several years ago. I do chart analysis from scratch myself- but as is commonly the case with this method, it costs alot more...as it's a whole day to a day and half's work for the astrologer. Details of the professional service are on my website (see link in my profile) if you click "astrology readings" then scroll down to the links in the "further info" section. I can also double check or rectify birth times....for example, my time was given to me as 13-40 pm, but my programmes returned the highest point score for 13-38pm.....it was 2 minutes off. It didn't alter my own chart placements significantly but could do for "person b"
Jessica, hi, glad you enjoyed your report. I do have an article about rising signs on my site ....the addy for my site is in my profile and the article can be found by clicking the main menu link over to the right that is headed "tarot-astrology articles". You can read a bit more about it there.
I'm curious! What are the distinguishing differences between a professional astrology report and, say, a non-professional or layman one? If this is not an appropriate line of questioning in this forum I apologize and shall bother you no further.
I would agree. However one point, your Sun is going to be in the 12th house regardless. That's IS where it's sitting. What you are talking about is that it would be included in the discussion of your 1st house. Also in traditional astrology, we would probably give the Sun some more power as if it was in the 1st house The 12th house is a very weak house for planetary placements.
Ill give this a whirl if its not too late Always grateful for any new interpretation and insight, so thank you in advance if you can do this! Hope its of help to you too! Oh wait, you need my birth name? Why? I dont like using it much:S
I can't say for modern/mainstream astrology, but in traditional, the difference is that a professional will pull out more details than a layman. It's relatively easy to pull out the big stuff, but trying to find out what kind of disease your are going to get and when, or finding out when you are going to have children and what their genders are going to be (as well as their health) is very tricky and takes practice.
My point exactly, as you say it would be "interpretted" like my sun is in the 1st house, so it would be kind of insufficient to get traits of 12th house sun in my profile, even if it was sitting there barely, wouldn't it? To Cosmic, I was born exactly at 6 AM, so even though those planets are right before the cusp of the next house, are you telling me that the interpretations you gave me should suffice? I'm getting two different answers from you and Enlil.
I'm going off of traditional astrology which is much more exacting than modern. Basically your Sun is in the 12th no matter what. In some cases I might look at your Sun as being in the 12th, and other times the 1st. Generally I would count it as 1st house though. The thing is, the 12th house is very weak, so that has to be counted. Your Sun is moving from the 1st to the 12th, so in reality it is seperating from your ascendant, and it has a different feel than if it was in the middle of your ascendant. I know it sounds confusing, and it can be. The rule gives a 5 degree leeway with counting planets in houses, but your Sun is in the 12th. It's sort of like having your entire body in one room (12th house) and one foot in the other (1st house).
"If that's so, then you can consider it in the 1st. In traditional you don't get the situation you have in modern where people say you have the qualities of 2 signs or whatever. It's either one thing or the other." That kind of contradicts what you replied to my question about this very same topic but ok.
That doesn't happen in traditional. You are either in one sign or the other. Houses and signs are two different things!
Sorry its just that sentence really threw me off. So you're saying I have traits of 1st house and 12th house?
Ok this may get complicated - well it is. The houses are areas of life, the signs are how that area is exerienced, and the planets are the degrees and quality of that experience. So, you will experience ALL of the houses in your chart, which means you will also experience all the signs in one degree or another. The first house is you, 2ns is wealth, 3rd your siblings, 4th your father, 5th children, 6th illness, 7th relationships, 8th death, 9th travel and religon, 10th honors and career, 11th friends, 12th secret enemies. All of these house mean a lot more, but these are the basic meanings. Modern astrological interps usually go through each planet and give you a long-winded psychological evaluation. Some people don't pay as much attention to houses in which there are no planets, but some do. In traditional, you think more in terms of question. So if I want to find out about your personality, which the traditionalists call manner, I don't even look at your Sun - or Moon in fact. I find which planet is the "significator of manner" which is one of the 5 other planets. I temper that to whatever planet rules your rising sign and any planets aspecting that. I would also consider any planets in the first house (and in your case your Sun). THEN I figure out your ruling element which is traditionally derived by adding the elements of your rising sign, your 10th house, the sign the ruler of your rising sign is in, and I think something else I'm forgetting right now. In your case, when finding out about your manner, I would consider the Sun as well since it's so close. However, if I wanted to look into a 12th house matter such as secret enemies, then I would consider the Sun in that case too.
I've already answered above. It depends on what I am looking at! Astrology has tons of little rules and it's almost never as simple as you hope. I haven't even touched on the hard stuff yet.
On Jan 4th: On Jan. 5th Do you need me to explain it a 3rd time, or is your reading comprehension that bad? I repeat for the fun of it: your Sun is in the 12th, but when looking at 1st house matters, I count your Sun as being in the 1st, but I would also count it in 12th matters since that is where it is actually sitting.
Hi everyone, yes, I'm still doing free reports - bear with me, I've been a bit busy with other things and will be having an "astrology" day tomorrow, so will do outstanding reports then..... cosmic
