    Heya brothers and sisters!

I have recently immersed myself full-on into queer movies and literature. I thought I would start a thread where we could discuss queer movies that we enjoy (or hated!) and what annoys us about queer stereotypes that (let's face it) are getting boring as basic premises in film.

Okay, I guess I will begin.

I recently watched "Lost and Delirious." It was sort of all over the place, but immediately drew me in. I was hooked, and found it delicious. :)

Umm, another one would have to be what I consider a classic: "Boys Don't Cry." Not only did I love this movie because I have an enormous crush on the lovely Hilary Swank, but it was so well-done and really made me cry. Such a sad story, but an issue that needs to be addressed nonetheless...

Anyone else see "Better than Chocolate"? It was filmed in Vancouver! The acting was kinda of annoying sometimes, but I enjoyed it anyways.

Anyone else have a fave queer movie to recommend?

One of my favourite movies is Chasing Amy, by Kevin Smith. It's kinda hard to place, because it's about a lesbian who falls in love with a guy and what both of them have to deal with, but I love the characters, and it's so well written. AND she makes out with a girl. I know it sounds fickle, but on a superficial level, that's my immediate criteria for a good film, haha.

I went to see The Itty Bitty Titty Committee last year (yeahhh! Daniela Sea!!!), which was pretty cool, but I don't like how ALL the lesbians were bad-bois. I liked the characters, but there weren't really any I could relate to, I guess. What else? Tipping the velvet (duh). I LOVE the androgyny in that film. Oh, MAN (no pun intended!).

Oh, I just found Kissing Jessica Stein at a thrift shop for about $2 the other day, so I have that, but I haven't actually seen it yet. I'm waiting for a moment when there's nobody else up. I may have come out to my family, but they're all REALLY uncomfortable about it. Except my mother. She just pretends it never happened. I digress. Instead of ranting, I meant to say "has anyone else seen it?"

My personal favorite...Stonewall. Boys Don't Cry is a good movie if you take it as just that...a movie. I went to high school with (then) Teena and so it hits just a little too close to home for comfort.

A few of my favorites are:

Shelter: Great movie. Boy falls in love with friend's older brother. Deals with college age level people and good coming out story.

Beautiful Thing: British boys (neighbors) hook up when one of them is beaten by his dad and comes over next door for safety. Interesting story and characters are well developed.

Just a question of love: College age coming out story. Guy falls in love with mentor for a botanical internship like job. His parents are very homophobic. Again well developed characters. It is in french though, so you have to bear subtitles, but a good movie non the less.

I am a fan of the coming out stories so if you dont like that style then these will not likely interest you. Hope someone gets some enjoyment out of this list though, I know I have. Wasted quite a few hours watching these multiple times.

The Broken Hearts Club. That's a pretty good movie, if not a bit of an obvious choice.

I am a fan of Timothy Olyphant and Zach Braff, so I felt it was worth a watch.

It's did not stereotype in a dreadful way. The characters were presenting all the very different types of gay men, whether it was the flamboyant gay, or you know, the average person. It was sweet.
