I am looking to moving into NYC..... Sometime at the end of this comming summer. And I am looking for roomies to do a communal kinda living thingy. Any takers, I am looking downtown. At places in the east village and harlem a couple in the bronx too and there are always apartments and house and such for rent in NYC. The more people who get on it the cheaper rent will be for example, if five people rented an apartment for $1395.00 a month we would each pay 279.00 a month which is amazing for NYC. If any of you are intersted or have ideas about other ways something like this could be arranged please let me know cause I really think this would be a great thing for like minded people to live together I know its not a new idea but yeah.....

I see what you mean. I actually live in Jersey right now I just need to get out of a not so good family living sittuation. I would live pretty much anywhere in New Jersey or NYC if the price was right and I could find a chill roomate or a couple of chill roomies. If you are seriously thinking about it would like to discuss things futher PM me.

I wouldn't want to live in Jersey (too smelly), maybe Greenwich Village (I'd love to live there.

Would this be a smoke-free/drug-free environment? I'm one of those vegan/macrobiotic/yoga hippies. I can tolerate a lot of people, but not smoking or drugs. Maybe social smoking - and I don't mind drinking. But perhaps?

I know, I'm a fuddy-duddy. I'm more of a Boston person, but I am willing to try NYC if there's an opportunity. :)

You'd be in New York.. a bit of smoking isn't gonna damage your lungs much more than the perpetual fug of pollution..

I've lived in a city for two years, so I would know what the pollution is like. I have also lived with smokers, and know what that's like.

I know that the amount of pollution in a city is less harmful than living and breathing second-hand smoke in closed quarters. Compounding pollution with smoking? Not a healthful combination.

I just was asking what the situation would be like. There was no need to be rude.

I spent a few months in NYC working @ sony music studios last year.
Born and raised in California (contrast)
that place is fucked up. condemned.
the atlantic coast is arrogant, and vengeful.
NYC is dirty, disgusting, corrupt, and expensive.
A big grid filled with shit and ego.
I got so physically ill when I lived there from parasites I was wrought with stomach pains chronically for months until I became a vegetarian and upped my yoga practices far, far away from NYC.
It was the worst experience of my life.
    I will never go back...
    (I hope it burns)

    Stalk,
I'm sorry you had a really bad experience in the City. Rest assured, not all of the Atlantic Coast is filled with arrogant and vengeful people - mostly, but not all. I am a Cali transplant (though I was raised most of my life here...) - so I can understand the outsider/stranger feeling. It took my going to college where people didn't know where I was born before I was accepted.

NYC is a very toxic city, I can only stand to be there for a day before I need to retreat home (I never wonder why New Yorkers come to my area on the weekends, I just wish they wouldn't come sometimes) - but I figure any experience gained is experience learned.

    :)

I'd like to live in NY for maybe a year. But I think more than that would be too much. But who knows. I love big cities like that.

Well I smoke cigarettes daily and smoke pot and drink but only very rarely, I would not mind if I had to go outside to smoke or to a different venune or home to smoke. Anyway I am probally quiting tobacco soon. And I smoke pot so rarely that would not be an issue. I would not want cocaine, LSD or any of the harder drugs in the house or apartment. So it would be drug free or semi drug free.
