...how easy it is to get crushes on fellow forum members? I was just reading a thread somewhere else where someone was referring to crushes on other forum members. I must admit, I'm guilty of this as well!

How is it that it's so easy to have crushes on total strangers?

Also, how is it that it's so easy to meet people you get along with really well on the internet, when it's so much more luck-of-the-draw in real life? Ha, now I sound like a friendless internet-nerd, haha.

    Have a splendid day :D

haha... it's true. i am guilty of this. i have definitely had crushes on forum members, it's pretty funny actually when you think about it, because it is a matter of total strangers. it's hard not to have crushes though, in a community of such cool folks!

i think its becasue through the internet, their personalities shine through more than if you had just met face to face.

Getting to know someone online or over the phone is more intimate I think. I know that from experience I find myself falling for online women because they take the time to get to know me, express feeling differently and actually work at making me feel important..As if you were to meet someone in person it's easier to just act and forget to compliment and comfort in ways that us women need at times.

I find that I can be more of myself online or on the phone rather than in person. Once I get to know you online or on the phone meeting in person just puts the puzzle piece that was lost together in the end.

I think it's natural for those of us that tend to be more open and comfortable with ourselves emotionally and not so much physically.

Nothing worse than meeting someone in person and getting rejected too! I prefer a simple IM or Email...hahahaha!!

That's interesting, because I'm SO awkward over the phone!

Speaking of awkward, last night a straight friend of mine tried to flirt with me...I eventually said I was going to sleep, goodnight. I hope he doesn't try again today, because then I'll have to tell him, and I really can't be bothered. We're not that close, and he's devoutly religious (read: homophobic). Ay, ay ay.

Yeah, I totally have a forum crush. It's easy! I don't have to deal with her reality at all - we can just flirt for the hell of it.

    I hate phones too.

Yeesh, Bocks, that's gonna be annoying. I suppose there's no reason you shouldn't just avoid the problem by telling him you're not attracted to him. We won't think you're a wuss for it - you just don't care enough to bother being honest with him.

EDIT: You gotta keep us updated about what happens here, btw.

Haha, alright then, but it's not that excited :p. He saw I wasn't interested and stopped talking to me. I don't actually know him that well, so it's not too big an issue. It could get interesting if he tries again though :p.

Well, at least he's somewhat perceptive (if an asshole). Good - glad it didn't have to turn into some crazy awk moment.

Me too! And I meant to say "exciting", not "excited", but I'm guessing you gathered anyway.

I am SO thrilled! I haven't had a crush on anyone since the love of my life moved 10, 000 km away a year and a half ago. And all of a sudden, the other day, I realised I actually had a crush on someone. A REAL crush, on a REAL homosexual--not a heterosexual. I've had sooooo many crushes on straight girls, but this is a LEGITIMATE crush. And all of a sudden, I'm getting crushes on heaps of people! Little ones, but crushes nonetheless. I feel kinda fickle, but HEY, I'm not asexual! As silly as that sounds, it's a lovely reassurance. I'm a bona fide lesbian again!

I'm sure you guys are sick of hearing about crushes, but man oh man, I'm going to enforce mine upon you. Well...sorta. You don't have to read, obviously. :)

So crush #1: I met this girl at a gayfest last year, when I had JUST JUST come out to myself, and we danced and talked a bit. She gave me her number at the end of it. I took her out once, it was super awkward, we didn't talk for a year. Then BAM, and she starts talking to me. She's megaultra cool, and I act like a mentally incapacitated baboon (hell yes, I'm recycling my similes) around her; I'm not sure why. I overanalyse the situation and still can't figure it out until a certain forum-acquaintance informs me that I'm in the middle of a crush. I never see her much, because she lives an hour away, but we're going to the same university this year, so we should run into each other more often. I think my attraction is entirely non-physical as a result, but then, is that a bad thing? She makes me giddy, and I can't sleep after talking to her because I think too much! I don't care if nothing comes of it, because I can crush again! Which means I'm completely over the love-of-my-life-incident!

The second crush is insignificant really. It's just this woman who leads this fitness class I go to. She has such great arms, man. Sculpted perfection. Wowie. And she's cute. And she talked to me today--"Do you think you have enough water?" How's that for significance? :p This is one of those insignificant crush-from-afar deals, I think. So apparently I can do those now too! Which makes me a qualified...something. But HEY!

That same queerfest where I met crush 1 is on this Sunday, and I'm going with queer friends in a queerbus to hang out with even more queers! I am SO thrilled. :D

    Alright, I'm done here!

Hope all is well with you gals!!! :D

Aw, I'm psyched you're crushing, Bocks. And if that woman asked if you want water, she clearly wants to get in your pants. :)

But I don't get why your attraction to #1 is non-physical. Because you overanalyzed it? Maybe I just need more coffee.

    Hey, congratulations! That's great!

And yeah, I wasn't totally coherent when I was posting, so it's non-physical because we really only met that once, and bar the date/the occasional catching up, our correspondence has been mainly over MSN or text, so I haven't really had to opportunity to lust over her! Perhaps I should offer her water?

The queerfest sounds great! Lotsa fun and I wish I could go!

Whether you offer water or not, definitely go for #1 Bocks, you will be at the same school, who knows what could happen! :)
(Even though I've said all this before, haha)

Oh, I get it. Not non-physical by choice.

Next time someone offers me water I'm just going to take my clothes off.

I personally havent had any experience with a crush from a forum, but then again i am new. But right now im more than happy with the girl im with.
    Hey babe

Bocks i say you should definitely go for #1. I mean yea right now you dont have a physical connection but you never know. Trust me crazier things have happened. And now that you will be going to the same university it gives you that chance to get to know her better and to actually have a face to face relationship even if you do just end up being friends.
This was mentioned earlier but i know how that phone conversation goes, i can barely call the pizza place, i'd opt for online order instead.

Anyway I wish i could go to that queerfest, sounds fantastical. I hope you have a good time there. And i might have missed it but is #1 going to be there Bocks?
