I've had the tat on my left shoulder now for 10 years and suddenly it has been going numb!! It's freaking me out! What could this possibly mean ?Has anyone else ever experienced this before? I tried googling info and came up with nothing helpful...the tattooist who did the work went out of business or I'd call him,I asked my dr and she didn't have an explaination ....help

Go into the best tattoo shop you can find and ask.

That is an interesting one. Is it the whole tattooed area or jus tthe actual tattoo. is the numbness like a superficial numbness or is it deeper into the tissue. Sorry to throw that many ?'s at you, but it would help.

If its just the actual tattoo and its a mild numbness, it could be that there is some slight insensitivity due to the scarring of the tattoo. If its a more intense numbness or more localized, I would guess its from something else and just coincidentally over you tattoo.

To be honest, I don't really know. I'd tell you to ask a doc, but that hasn't help you. Go to bmezine.com and ask. they have the best of the best there. I will say that a 10 year tattoo is unlikely to be the cause of any major new complications.

Cheers and definetly give us an update,

I would definitely get it checked out. The mercury in tattoos can cause health problems, even 10 years later.

It's the whole area of the tattoo....pretty deep into the skin. There is no red ink....Mainly blues and purples, well I guess purple probably has red in it.I'll try a different Doc if it keeps up~ It happens randomly on and off. Thanks for the replies and concern ~

I wouldn't mind about it... This happens to me sometimes for some unknow reasons. I am mostly covered in tattoos and I've noticed this happens more on the lining than on the shading. The next thing I've found it's that it doesn't happens on all my tattoos. It only happens on tats made by a specific artist. I tattoo myself and now I understand that this dude was tattooing with the needle too deep. Next thing I know is that this would more happen if I'm on acid, smoking de herbs, or drinking, or whatever man, just the fucking dope. I think it has something to do with the blood flow or somethin' but ya know... me, it just last for like 3-4 hrs than it's gone.
