i eat meat because it is natural, because humanity has been doing it thousands of years and its kinda why we have teeth, like think about it.. no one gets mad at a lion for eating an Antalope.. the end

we dont liv in the stone age, we dont have to eat meat to have a balanced diet.

its natural for me not to eat meat, yea its in my nature - therefore its in nature, i'l respect others decisions to eat meat if they want though, if its what they want. but no carnivore unduly sufferers just cos of a vegetarian

Not everyone has the same nutritional needs. Meat may be a necessity for some, and unhealthy for others.

A man lived to 115 and all that he consumed from 90 - 115 was Scotch and bread fried in lard; He was of sound mind and independent.

If you think about nature and how any animal decides what it will eat, there are 3 factors which figure in. What is available to them where they live, what the animal is physically able to get and consume, and what tastes good to them.
That would be the MOST natural diet there is. And it seems as tho the MOST healthy diet for ANY being would be that which is closest to natural for them. Placing humanly invented restrictions on what we eat as far as vegetarianism versus being a meat eater, is NOT natural. What IS natural would be eating completely organic and whole foods that are locally grown and WHATEVER tastes good to you within that framework. Which can include meat. I think the health pros and cons are highly over rated. And there are ALWAYS alternatives to the patent agribusinesses which pollute the environment with their chemicals and hormones and genetically modified bullshit.

I eat only seafood, but I eat more fresh fish then "farmed". I dont eat any other meat. Ive stopped eating beef and pork since May and then stopped eating chicken about 2 months or so ago.

*forgot to add because i was click happy*
It's healthier for me to be that way because beef and pork usually made me sick and I ate small amounts of it anyway. Fish and other seafood...well I just love it, but it doesnt upset my stomach. I eat more Boca than fish though, so yeah im just happy.

"i eat meat because it is natural, because humanity has been doing it thousands of years and its kinda why we have teeth, like think about it.. no one gets mad at a lion for eating an Antalope.. the end"

Eating meat, in a purely survival-driven sense is of course natural. As is engaging in rampant intercourse with the soul intention of reproducing (but obviously driven by the bi-product of pleasure). That being said, as beings who claim to function on a higher level of existence than animals in a mental sense, should we not amend the laws which dictate their nature? Human beings have been blessed with a consciousness and moral sensibility that allows us to act in moral ways. If you are a Freudian, cite the ego/superego. I bring this up because I think it accurately reveals the flaws inherent in your argument, that humanity has been eating meat for thousands of years and thus, it is moral. If you study Freud, you know that this moral code is called the "ego" and that it dictates ones actions in a way that makes them seem societally acceptable. However, beyond this sphere of morality is the "superego" which allows human beings to deem morality based on a personal decision of conscience, rather than as a mere product of the larger society. SO, as a supposed HIPPY, a supposed counter-culture-ite...should you not be extending yourself beyond cultural norms to find "true" truths!?

Finally, nobody is going to reprimand a lion for eating another sentient being because the lion knows no better. How can you expect a moral decision of one incapable of thinking beyond the level of mere survival. If you want to base your morals around the lives of brutes, I suggest that you immediately shed your clothes, unplug your computer, allow your saliva to drip freely down your mouth, quit using the bathroom and stop engaging in activities of a "higher-level" of thought such as education and schooling...otherwise perhaps you should allow yourself to evolve to the point that you can realize that human beings and brutes are different entities whose moral code is not all-encompassing but entirely unique.

    Peace in Knowledge,
    J.

Being a vegetarian or vegan isn't even a option for a lot of people. Most of the alternative sources of protein are also the top food allergens (soy, dairy, wheat, nuts, etc.). Also a large portion of the population of this planet is living in poverty and don't really have much, if any, choice in what they eat.

My sister is actually allergic to say, dairy and peanuts...and she eats meat frequently. However, this past summer she ate strictly vegan and felt the best she has ever felt in terms of health. That being said, she is back to eating meat because it is the school year and it is no doubt tough for her to abstain from eating meat considering her restricting diet. Though, she has slowly been gravitating toward veganism and I have been gravitating SLOWLY away from soy products (Not sure if this will be permanent).

Despite this example...roughly 1% of people suffer from soy allergies...so you can't claim that as a major barrier. Secondly, I have been able to live on a vegan diet with even less of an expense than when I ate meat.

I'm not trying to say that everyone should become vegetarian or vegan...I never was trying to say that. I'm just trying to bring a largely ignored (in some spheres) issue to the surface...

    Peace to ALL!

"unfortunately the issues you chose to bring to the surface were pretty awful examples"

Or perhaps your inability to accept them as valid as just a reflection of repressed guilt?
