"Tobacco from manufacturers has been enhanced and cleaned whereas cannabis is relatively unprocessed and therefore is a much dirtier product."
    hahaha what bullshit

personally, with all the back and forth, I don't know much information on the subject that I trust
    I don't really give a shit though

Nitrogen & Ammonia residues indicate too much fertilizer in the sample.

So they got an over-fertilized, unflushed sample that only proves that FERTILIZERS are unhealthy and shouldn't be smoked (or left in the plant before harvest).

And the Hydrogen Cyanide comes from Calcium Cyanide which is a PESTICIDE! It's not a naturally occuring substance in cannabis as far as I can determine.

So there you go. They use a CHERRY PICKED sample that contains an unusual amount of chemicals added (obviously not grown organically) to tout the dangers, and then they claim it's not as "clean" as tobacco.

Meanwhile they didn't mention any of the DOZENS of other toxins present in tobacco that lead to cancer, and instead claim that the toxins in cannabis cause cancer. The fact that it's obviously FERTILIZER residue and NOT cannabis that causes the cancer...

This report is OBVIOUSLY a political maneuver to tighten laws against cannabis in both Canada and Britain. There's currently political pressure in both countries, esp. Britain as they want to return cannabis to the most restrictive category.

I find it absurd that the BBC doesn't provide a chance to rebut these claims via online comments attached to articles. So anything the BBC reports must be accepted as gospel now. It's all BUSHIT!

I just added this paragraph after some research:

And the Hydrogen Cyanide comes from Calcium Cyanide which is a PESTICIDE! It's not a naturally occuring substance in cannabis as far as I can determine.

And if anything this points to the fact that cannabis needs to be taxed and regulated so that shit like this doesn't happen.

Too many people smoke SHIT cannabis grown by people who only care about profits and not the health of those smoking it!

I think that could be a leading factor toward legalization!

It won't be. Because the people that are keeping this illegal, are the same people that believe that this substance is a curse to society. These same people are completely oblivious to the facts about this, and are themselves misinformed.

These people take biased studies as fact.

... and plus, most people smoke a lot more cigarettes than they do weed. you don't see people smoking 1-2 packs-worth of weed(in size)... at least i hope not.

Well it is a valid study if they would just state that this was a poorly grown and processed batch of chemically treated cannabis that is TYPICAL when cannabis is unregulated.

Regardless of what these scientists/political pundits agenda is, people are still gonna grow SHIT weed, sell it and smoke it, no matter what the law says.

So if they are TRULY worried about people's health as they PRETEND to be here, they should allow FREE anonymous testing of weed for such toxins, so people can find the safest sources, just like they do with X in some places.

Increasing penalties for possession doesn't help anyone's health!

Tobacco is and keeps much more unhealthy then cannabis. As far as I know, the main cancer causing chemicals in Tobacco (that most likely cause 95% of the cases on tobacco smokers) are fucking radioactive substances ... which are not found in cannabis.

These researches don't proove a thing ... cannabis may in fact contain 20 times as much tar as cigarettes ... what does this say about health? No fucking thing. When cleaning your house with ammonia you'll probably breath in 100 times as much ammonia as you do with 1 KG of cannabis.

Fact is, tobacco causes cancer because it is radioactive, this has been proved and certain so called 'radioactive hotspots' can be found on smokers lung tissue.

Of course, this researches has been performed by 'a government'. I wouldn't believe too much crap of it when it says 'government funded'.

Well it turns out that the samples used in this study were provided by Health Canada or whomever the company is that is allowed to grow medical marijuana by the Canadian gov't. Their weed is total shit according to everyone who has had to smoke it. So this only proves that Gov't sponsored weed is UNHEALTHY. People should grow their OWN!

Reminds me off this quote: "Penalties against possession of a drug should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself; and where they are, they should be changed. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against possession of marijuana in private for personal use… ” -Jimmy Carter, 1977

BTW, has anyone ever grown their own tobacco? I've wondered how different it would be to roll a joint of organically grown tobacco compared to commercial cigarettes that go through god knows what processes to "enhance" them. It would have to be somewhat healthier, right?
