she dosent listen to anything on the radio...she expands her taste of music with underground rap... a new favorite is canibus.

Radio sucks. Tupac sucks.

 

you didn't hesitate to get butthurt about my post making an obvious conclusion that your girl has no idea what she's talking about, yet you won't address the good points that are actually relavent to the subject.

if tupac wasn't one of the most popular/influential artists i'm sure you wouldn't hate him. the fact that you can't back up what you say only tells me that you're following a trend; it's just as trendy to hate tupac as it is to like him.

 

Canibus is a joke. He puts a bunch of big words together to amaze people and think he's the deepest motherfucker around. If you replaced those bottom-of-the-dictionary words with common, everyday ones you would realize how simple and blunt his concepts and lyrics are.

My second favorite hip hop artist is Kero One. I'm guessin' ya' never heard him so pick up the album Windmills of the Soul on amazon.com. Either way, not all mainstream is shit. It's particularly bad recently, but there's still some good in it.

No i dont think so. Canibus is one of the best rappers whose real and not fake like them other wannabe gangsters. The only rapper that puts a bunch of words together to amaze people and thinks he's the deepest motherfucker around is papoose. You obviously dont know what real music is. Maybe you should expand your taste a lil and get your facts straight.

 

^ but real or fake doesn't really pertain to actual talent though. canibus uses big words and did his homework, but as far as metaphors and provoking thought, he really isn't special. wu tong made a good post. he's a good rapper though, just not amazing.
b real of cypress hill for example.. he's pretty real, but doesn't have any actual talent. on the contrary, cassidy is a sell out, but i know that deep down inside he has talent. the best rappers are the ones who find the balance between realness and concepts, and lyricism. as for tupac, he was an emotion/feel mc, while people like biggie are lyrical mc's.

and most mainstream does suck.. lupe fiasco's pretty good though imo.
this threads pretty dumb if everybody just states opinion as fact without backing it up.
another rapper who might be my favorite is AZ. AZ is fucking insane with lyrics and flow. any rap fan should listen to him.

 

I dont listen to Tupac myself, he's not really my style, but to say the man is talentless or he just plain "sucks" is silly

Canibus? is he still around... he even got ripped by cool J. Never could get into Canibus I didnt mind that one album back about 10 years ago though. I like alot of old school underground acts from the mid 90's.

Anyway on the subject of 2pac, just because hes been thrust into the mainstream because of his death doesnt mean he isnt "good". His lyrics are as poetic as any other emcee that is considered a poetic lyricist, his emotion on the mic was deep when he spit those lyrics to, his flow was on par, but was sometimes hindered due to his emotion. He did care and he wasnt just about money, infact he was almost flat broke when he died, because not only did he spend it all on himself but many of his friends have said in interviews he used to pay for everyone always, he also bought homes for friends of his that would have been homeless otherwise.

Anyway just my opinion, but I think he was a good rapper and a good person.

Cypress Hill kicks ass though

 

wtf?? boring imagery? have you heard the song brendas got a baby? i ain't mad at cha? i dont see how you dig cypress hill but not tupac.. he is better than them in ever aspect of music. i hope its not because they're all about weed. other than that whatever floats your boat.

train of thought portrays music at its best, for thats what music is; expression.

lyrics and iambic construction are all good, but the emotion comes first. some spit the lyrics but can't back it up with emotion or passion. canibus is one of them imo.

 

My teacher had the last chance to work with him, he recorded the song pac did for mike tyson ( the song in which he walked out to) wish i could get a chance like that but on another note Pac aint the one who is putting out his old stuff to sound new or his clothes he didnt do any of that, his mom and mostly suge knight just trying to make a buck off of him, people have different opiinons about what they like and dont like. All of those rappers all you have metioned are great too i for one is a huge pac fan. But todays music i dont know whats happen lol crank that souliah boy like that
