Because there are hundreds of online libraries. I myself cannot read a book on the computer. There are lots of used book stores both online and offline where you can get books for next to nothing.
ahh haha As soon as I made this thread I realized the online libraries too.... There is really something special about a real organic book in your hands, and Im such a library-aholic, but sometimes I just want it at my fingertips.
http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/11/amazon-kindle-meet-amazons-e-book-reader/ And google's trying to do a thing with google books is starting to offer a lot of free books and more books you can access for a fee. Theres tons more stuff for ebooks. The idea came around a while ago, yet just wasn't pushing enough. Now it's starting to get a lot more attention.
I downloaded The Catcher in the Rye awhile back, but never got around to reading it. Hmmm...if I'm stuck home from work tomorrow because of snow, I think I'll read that.
^are you serious? it's a really famous book written like 50 years ago anyway, i've only read one book online, and it made my eyes hurt
From Wiki: Mark David Chapman, who assassinated John Lennon, was carrying the book when he was arrested immediately after the murder and referred to it in his statement to police shortly thereafter. John Hinckley, Jr., who attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in 1981, was also reported to have been obsessed with the book. Books in a minute: Holden Caulfield: Angst angst angst swear curse swear crazy crazy angst swear curse, society sucks, and I'm a stupid jerk. Sorry but I like the old fashioned way of going to the library, getting a book and reading it while holding it. I seem to have trouble reading on the computer. The trouble is I seem to not be able to go to the library without purchasing a book from the book sale rack (usually 25 cents). My wife always says we have way too many books, but I always say, "One day when I get old I might not be able to go to the library so I want a stash of books to read then too." This way I am making my own library for the future.
