so i was going with neglect for about 5 months until i read a little more and decided that wasnt the best way to go so ive decided to switch twist and rip which i was planning on starting soon but now im thinking ill go with backcombing, i had a friend filling my head with her idea of how dreads should come about which was what all her friends did and that was either twist and rip or just neglect and ripping apart but everything ive read points towards backcombing but i figured id talk to some real people about it and see im sure many a folk have posted this same question so if theirs already a thread just redirect me please
ok im pretty sure what im about to say will be echoed by the rest of the community... THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG WAY TO MAKE DREADS... seriously there really isnt, just do whats better for you, it may seem like a very beatiful and meaning full process by going 'natural' and a lot of people will talk about there 'dread journey'...what a load oh twaddle. just because i take a different route doesnt make my journey any less interesting...if you catch my drift
If you backcomb they will most likely fall out and do their own thing. I say leave them be and just go swimming in the ocean as much as u can. If you live nowhere near an ocean do a seasalt, lemon guice and water mix. STEAR CLEAR OF WAX :sombrero:
at the begining i was thinknin about wax.. but every1 says it's not that good dirty stuff get trapped in your hair and blablabla i see that lots of ppl in this forum likes neglet method better but also, i see that lots of brasilian ppl (in a forum i joined) likes needling, hand knotting and backcombing better i dont have my dreads yet, but i'll start this week just by knotting with my hands and keep needling loose hairs till they dread up (maybe ill backcomb to help the proccess)...and i've been washing my hair with dr.bronners for a week and I LOVE IT.. is good for everything, i recommend it peace good luck
