iv had acne most of my teenage years (now 18) but only recently has it gotten worse, i feel due to the stress of starting college. i know how the scars from past ones, 3 or 4 big zits and a couple little ones, its incredibly embarrassing and i think its just causing more stress and more acne.

its keeping me from meeting girls and uncomfortable self concious, does anyone have any sugestions? i have pro-active but its not really working, i felt like that was my best shot.. SOO frustrating

wash with soap free soap, pear's make some or soap free shower gel. dry you face with a paper towel and dispose of it. also wash your pillow case cos you can reinfect your self from that too.

I've lived with acne most of my life.

I tried going through a natural soap (I think groovy is referring to glycerin soap?) phase and it didn't help me much but that was my skin...Proactive did shit for me too.

I'm currently on a regime of Body Shop tea tree product and I'm really liking it so far. Time will tell it's full effectiveness.

Important general things: (and forgive me if you already know them)
    - Water! drink lots of water. It's great for your skin. Despite how easy a step this is, it's one I'm always struggling with.
    - Omega 3 mega-dose. Again, great overall for skin.
    - Give any regimen you try at least a month and a half or so for results. In most cases, as your skin recovers, you will get worse a few weeks into it before it gets better.
    - Make sure your regimen is consistent and stick to it.

Here's what has been working great for me the last couple of months. In the shower, I take regular soap(what the hell is soap free soap???), and scrub it all over my face. I then apply differin(sp) throughout the day(3 times usually).

The soap was a bitch to get started. Nothing but a burning itchy face for the first week. Now my skin is accustomed so it doesn't do anything.

Unfortunately, everyone is different when it comes to acne solutions. One of my friends got rid of his by using some neutrogena pearl wash. I tried it with no results. I'd recommend seeing a dermatologist if possible, because they can get you prescriptions for pills that can eliminate acne for a short while and let you get a routine started.

Do you eat a lot of dairy? Try cutting it out of your diet for two weeks (or cutting way back on it) and see if that helps. You could have a slight intolerance to dairy foods, it's pretty common.

Dude, you should just go see a dermatologist. They can give you exactly what you need that can help you. Also maybe you should look up ways to relieve stress so you wont have it as much.

Since I was thirteen, I have been almost obesessed with discovering cures for acne. I never got it bad, but I started prevention methods before it could take over my skin. No matter where I go, I get compliments on my skin, and questions on how I do it. I have MANY methods for curing/preventing acne that are very cheap, and usually dont require much effort or stress

    The main things are:

Bathe in epsom salt. Take beta carotene daily, 25,000IU a day. Drink water, lots and lots of water. DON'T touch your face or pick at zits. I have a habbit of touching my face to see if im hot, but it is very bad for you and I pay for it most of the time. Cut very fatty things out of your diet if you can, but ive noticed that diet has a very little effect on acne.

Try this regimen for a few days and let me know how it works out:

Here is my simple recipie for an epsom salts/oatmeal bath. Its very relaxing and great for acne sufferers. NOTE**this can be done as much as you want

First, buy a few big bags of epsom salts, its cheap so dont worry about money.

second, buy some quick oatmeal, cheap stuff or good stuff: dont matter.

Run some bath water, not too hot or cold though, if its too hot it dries out your skin and that leads to oil, which leads to pimples. If its too cold, it will cause your pores to close, trapping in dirt, which also causes pimples. Add the epsom salts. I would estimate around 5-8 cups for the whole tub, depending on size.**note: Since Magniseum Sulfate can be absorbed though the skin in minute amounts, this will also promote regular shitting but it wont give you diarhea so dont worry**

Get real wet with the water containing epsom salts and fill your hands with some more. gently rub it into your face(dont press on a zit, avoid them) for about 60 seconds and rinse it off. it might burn a bit, this is normal

Next, add some oatmeal to the same water, about 5 or so cups too. Once it gets all soft, get a handful and gently rub it in your face and other troubled areas for also around 60 seconds. This replaces the potentally lost moisture from the epsom salts. It also feels wicked good. after all that shower off since the epsom salts can cause irritation if it isnt completley rinsed off.

Some people reccomend omega 3 fish oil, but i have never used it yet so I cant say much about it.

For god's sake, Don't use bar soap on you face. It clogs your pores and causes major breakouts and shine. The only cleanser I have found to not overdry or clog pores and shine is the St ives GENTLE apricot scrub. The apricot scrub is a pummice cleaner to exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells that can clog pores. Only use a facial cleanser when you are excessivly dirty. Otherwise, just just warm water and if you'd like, a small soft sea sponge. Avoid cleansers like Neutrogena Oil free(the orange shit) or the clearasil(the shit in the blue and white tube) They are more bad than good.

There are also face masks that can be worn to the good effect of acne. Beat an egg and put it on your face for 15 minutes then shower it off. This will leave your skin feeling refreshed, and tight. If you need an overnight treatment, egg whites applied to the zit before bed works great. Eggs contain vitamins that are good for the skin. The egg white coitains copious amounts of Vitamin A and the yolk contains carotene.

Use fresh pillowcases every night, and never sleep with your face on the pillow. I do this out of habbit, and it does cause some problems.

So, now that ive sat here for an hour writing my methods, heres a recap:

    Lots of water
    Beta carotene
    Epsom salts
    no soap
Mildly tempratured water, not hot not cold
    no touching of face
    egg masks

let me know how it works bud

btw, if the zits hurt really bad, and the area itched before they surfaced, see a doctor; its most likely a staph infection. Staph lives in the nose of every human and when spread to the pores(via nose blowing, picking etc) it causes a large painful infection. When I got my first staph pimple it took 5 weeks and a shitload of antibiotics to cure. It also left a scar, so dont pick your nose and touch your face. When you get one staph pimple, it spreads to other nearby open pores fast and can be an extremely painful and hard to cure experience. Ive had around 7 of them, and I still havent learned a damn thing about picking my nose lol

I had fucking acne until I was 55 years old (last year). What finally cured it was to stop eating fruit.
PS. You got to go easy on fats too. REAL easy. Read the labels.

now im only 15, but i have had acne since i was 12 and i have had it on and off pretty bad on occasion it will clear up a little bit but then come back just as strong just days or weeks later. i have seen a dermatologist and not much works for me, as for now they have me perscribed on doxyciclyn, i take 2 pills a day and watch my face daily with clearasil ultra face watch. if i keep on that steady routine my skin seems to stay a little clearer, and also i notice when i am out alot and eating fast food and what not, i deffinetly start breaking out a little more. but everybody reacts differently and there are hundreds of acne conditions, lucky mine do not scar. but if its stress, all i can say i s dont stress it, just wash your face morning and night, and soon enough you will find what works for you.

I have it pretty bad, though it is not as bad on my face. I have it over my upper arms, upper chest ( around the neck but not on the neck almost like the colar area), and upper back ( shoulders mainly)

What should I do? Its gotten to a point that I think I will never go around shirtless ever

mine used to be very bad like that too when i first started getting acne, all over my back shoulders and upper arms like i was attacked by insane bees or swam in a bathtub of sealice, and i wouldnt go shirtless either. it was terrible, but they just ended up clearing over the next year or two. just the occasional few white heads on my back, shoulder or arm. although just last month or so i noticed them popping up on my uppper chest just under my colar again, and my neck. hopefully i can get them to move out lol
