I think your right 'the end comlpete' i read some posts and they were going on about changing society breaking boundaries tellin us like it is , social awareness blah blah blah blah..and some one even mentioned the sex pistols ... tragic mistake THE worse 'punk' band in living history and prety much was THE coporate 'punk' band of the time.

I personaly like 'coporate' modern 'punk' bands (not all of them).

It must take so much effort not caring and having attitude.

Its basicaly musical taste realy and labels .... its cool to like real punk and all the history of its birth rise and yawn....boring crap like that.

Shut the fuck up about ignorance. Your the ignorant one. "Every genre.. maybe not pop". Music is music. Pop is music, like it or not.

And now he's dead, along with punk. It was only real to a select few artists, and now it's dead. Boohoo.

Emo is what happens when someone realizes that punk is bullshit, and they want to grow up. And by grow up I mean bitch about getting dumped by girls.

THANK YOU!!! When will bassists realize that it is not the "easier" of the two guitars. There is no "easier" guitar. And stop playing fucking roots of chords damnit!

I also play bass if you hadn't noticed. lol

*I posted this then remembered that that moron Fat Mike from NOFX has one bassline that's really cool, but I don't remember the name of the song since I sold all my punk albums after I graduated high school. There's nothing more embarassing than a 24 year old punk rocker. hahahahahaha!*

I liked how you said grow up, but you can't spell the word tear.

You are wrong on so many levels. THe point of starting a band is to write music, not to make it big. People who are musical need to write to express creativity. You are full of shit that it's all about making it big, and you don't work in the industry so STFU.

Outside of that I agree with your point about music being from someone's inside, but we criticize music based on artistic integrity and talent. Both of which punk has none. It has and always will be remembered as a tool of politics and consumerism. Sorry.

It is called releaseing the tension of knowing you are a phony like everyone else.

    It's also called aggression.

But you are right, these are both emotions.

quote: And now he's dead, along with punk. It was only real to a select few artists, and now it's dead. Boohoo.

Its true that the glory days of punk rock are gone...there are some more recent bands that are good too though, and bands that have incorporated some elements of "punk" and built up on it....I'm not crying about it...its not so important to me.

i like a wide range of music...I've played music in bands for years....

I sense agression and phoniness in your flat out dissing of a whole genre, I can sense the teen angst, and wonder how you can look down on "punks" for letting out aggression, when you are doing the same...feeling superior through words...

Look, all you are doing is attacking one genre and defending another. The classification of music is what creates shitty music. People need to get together with the kinds of musicians they want and write their own music; outside of the realm of genre. You can't just say "Punks Sucks" and then go into "Metal Rules!" that's just debating which shitty genre sucks less.

All genres suck, they are unorigional and trite. Now they have all been done to death and I am stuck here dominating the latter half of the thread refuting all this.

When a person writes music, they should not be thinking about what genre it should be or what genre they want it to be, and they shouldn't claim to be creating a new genre either. Just listen to whatever music hits your ears as good or asthetically pleasing and fuck punk, rock, rap, metal, folk, alternative, grunge, techno, house, hip-hop, trance, emo, indie, or whatever retarded word you come up with to label shit into like a little sheep be hearded by the media into whatever classification system they define on VH1 so they have something they can call Radiohead. Yes they call them "Space-Rock". WTF?! Not that I am much of a fan, but fuck! Space-rock? Gimme a fucking break!

It is all so you can name-drop and genre-drop.

Just another tool of seperationism and segregation to keep us all divided into little groups. Fuck the clique. Write something origional assholes.

I was not being condescending there, and I apologize for coming off that way. I am not a teen, but I just get so frustrated with all the genre crap. Also, I am not looking down on aggression. It is ok to be mad when you are young, but you have to grow up sometime and realize that you have no reason or right to be rebelling against nothing y'know?

I also see what you are saying about not writing songs to fit into a certain genre.. i agree with that. Its hard to classify lots of music these days because of all the different influences bands have...mixing electronics with guitars, combining different types of music together.

I just like the energy of good punk bands, its not so much the message for me.
