i stopped listening to them awhile when i got into the 60s but I just started listening to them again. Theyre amazing, especially every me and every you.
This might sound strange... I strongly dislike their original songs, but I love most of the covers they did of other bands.
2OTHCENTURYBOY BY T.REX FROM TREX TANX The original crushes anything byt plecebo's cover of the song is good(anything with that guy singing is sick.) I am assuming they cover marc bolans' trex 20thcenturyboy because marc bolan is god. Youtube the live placebo version and youtube the trex video of it for the crazy original.
Yes, the original is just amazing, just like anything by T-Rex. But Placebo's cover of it is probably one of the best covers out there. Marc Bolan is indeed pretty damn close to God. Ever seen the YouTube "Children of the Revolution" video with Elton John on the piano and Ringo on the drums? It's awesome. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xJ_agcMy5c ) Also, watch Velvet Goldmine... the movie... seriously.
I do like that movie, it's got humor, sublety, flash, christian bale(eerie). I'm to understand Micheal Stipe produced it.
Yes, and Michael Stipe loves his glam. The movie doesn't really have much substance, but it's just awesome in every way if you like glam rock... which I'm a huge fan of.
I was going to write that before. (about marc's painted head sticking out of that piano, and elton almost laughing.) (rant-- I think Marc Bolan evolved metal single handedly. He's my second favorite guitarist of all time(hendrix1) and had a sense of braveness and humor. But most of his guitar playing and singing. Makes the stones look very contemporary.
Marc influenced a ridiculous amount of bands, and no one and I mean no one ever gives him the credit for it. I'm truly glad that there are other people out there who respect his scary ass face
"jungle face Jake" make no mistake about jungle face jake. Tele gram sam is about Marc himself and the different personas are him. I think he was very aware about how he came off and was taken. Apparently he outsold the beatles by the mid seventies in the u.k but just "bang a gong" got noticed in the us,(released 'get it on" in the uk but couldnt get the title past censors in the states(?)) Prince has really good trex influence .(i think) But there are probably tons more
Apparently theres a docu. "who stole Marc Bolans Millions" and it seems to go in line with his uncredited infuence and underated rockdum.(havent seen it yet) His wife and son litterly had to flee their home which was being ransacked by candle holding bolan stalkers, whom many of blamed his wife for his death. I think marc put his whole self into the rock personna and had no restrait at all and there was too much recipricated energy back from the world. He died.
