Peace, how many of you older folks remember places that used to be full of good vibes, love, and lots of freedom? it can be a place thats still there or not, over seas, anywhere. and what do you think makes a good hip community. quality wise? later the tired flower child
For me it is Eureka Springs Arkansas...I was born in that neck o' the woods.Full of hippies, they embrace all lifestyles, have their own resident witch, support gay rights and give thumbs up for being different. I go there every year on vacation. Its way up in the Ozark mountains, autumn there is breathtakingly beautiful. I will live there when we retire. Its nickname among many is Mayberry LSD. so you can see, it is a very diverse place....check out the website. Hey, it would be great to meet up there!!!! I think the greatest most wounderful time I had was in 68' at the Avalon Ball room..Van Morrison was playing ..Into The Mystic.. I was trippin' Van was singin' to my heart.. I had an out of body experience that took me into the very notes Van was playing, my heart beat was in rythem with the very soul of the song.. I can't explane the feeling exactly.. maybe a brain orgasum but heavier.. still to this day that song takes me .. Into The Mystic.. ya know? That kind of feeling. Peace Shameless
I'd heard that Eureka Springs was a pretty happenin' place...I'll have to check it out sometime... Boulder, CO used to be pretty neat...I lived there for about 10 yrs...It is pretty yuppie now, I"ve heard. I went back to visit about 7 yrs. ago, and was appalled to see a Gap on the Pearl Street Mall...but, back in the day, it was a lot of fun, and a lot of good things happening...happy, honest, earth loving folk...
Port Townsend, WA, it has been a hippie haven for quite a few years, arty, liberal, as usual, as soon as we think its cool, the rich do to and have moved in, but it still has flavor to savor, your right next to the ocean, its a quiet town, busy with tourists in the summer, but sublimely quiet in the winter. Check it out.
Peace, not bad. i must say i need to travel alot more! what about places away from the establishment? melow, easy places? later the tired flower child
Walking in the woods always gives me a special connection with nature.. laying under a huge old Oak tree listening to the wind singing through the autum leaves..hearing the chittering of the squerrills scattering about, gathering the acorns from the mighty Oaks to keep them feed through the winter..the sound of the water flowing down the creek bed relax's the mind as thoughts drift into soft clouds of mist moving upward, toward the brilliant blue sky.. all is calm and peace floods your bones and you smile all over..
Just about ANY small town on the map Josh. You've read my posts about Northern Minnesota? I read just 20 minutes ago, the HARDEST CORE story in a paper from a town called Wadena Minnesota. It had to do with two rival males asking to take the same female home from a local pub. The police WERE called, but, told the guys to "Play Nice!" End of story. In light of the WORLD news, that seems VERY tame, and loving to me. Not so very far from where YOU are, little brother.
Peace, hmm but remember small towns also house the negitive. too. i understand how you feel coming form a big city. i think a big city has bigger hip populations and places because of all the diversity. mabe theres hip everywhere you go?! would be enat in a smll town was jsut ful of hip stuff & people! later the tired flwoer child
