today i was trying to meditate, when all of a sudden i became aware of how very stable i was. how perfect the design of my body is and that of the world. then it seemed like something in the center of my brain was vibrating very minutely but also very intensly and there was the smallest bit of pressure between my eyes. is this progress? or am i just overanalyzing.
I would say, due to the nature of the issue. Any validation you try to create will be fulfilled. So yes, it is progress. But it is also a sort of self-created method of validation. As in you are sort of creating a concept of what the next step of meditation will be like. Then you are looking for those signs that your there. Which of course, to stay inspired to keep going at meditation, you need validations of this sort. Just understand that ultimately, it gets to a point where your very concept of what "the next step in meditation" will be is actually the thing thats holding you back. You have to let go of all thought forms eventually. Even the thoughts and ideas your using to validate that you have progressed. Eventually you have to stop looking for progress and just trust the thing thats always been driving you and take each new day as progress just by the very nature of 'new day'.
just keep doing it. it can take a long time before you really let go. when it finally really worked for me it was so very obvious. once you let go of all of your thought for long enough you will start to get really high - kinda like when your tripping - you really cant miss it. but there are many benefits to meditation even if you can not bring yourself to a place with no thought. sounds like you are probably making some progress. try focusing on your breathing or your heart beat. that is what worked for me. when you are focused on your breathing you can't be thinking of anything else. if you can think of only your breathing for long enough you will get so high - you will love it. as soon as you think - i did it - it is over. the more you do it the easier it will be to stay.
that's an awesome meditation experience! i'd call it very significant! i find though that once i'm aware that i'm "in a zone" i instantly lose it. i try to go with the flow & not think about what i'm experiencing --so that i can just experience it--otherwise i'm just thinking about it. i find no 2 meditations are alike. each one will be different...some will feel like a quiet rest, others like a life altering epiphany....but the experience of meditation is the gift...its like a journey with no destination...its the journey that is significant. there is one feeling though--psychics call it the violet flame--when you are there....trust me, you'll know!
Very good advice!! I am using heart beat method, but my wife uses breading method. They are both equaly good and take you to the same "place". Why is this working so good? Because when you are meditating, and get "there", you are in some sort of a trance. What is better than trance? - Psychedelic Trance! rhytam + repetition = Psychedelic Trance Concentrating on heart beat or breading rhytam is exactly that. You know that all shamans and many tribes when they are doing some rituals, they have drums beating and repeating constantly. If you can not concentrate on your own rhytams, just try to find some shamanic druming cd, or similar thing, it can help a lot, because it is much louder than your heart beat and it can keep your attention much easier.
What is being said here about thought, namely consciousness, is the best advice one can give to you at this point in your practice of meditation or prayer neodude. See how in Shapeshifter's signature picture the chakras are brightly lit up, but more importantly, the shining energy coming out of the crown chakra in the head? What is being shown there is a saint in complete samadhi, or God consciousness. Moksha is beyond thought comprehension, it is pure, objective God realization. Im going to get a little deep here so try and stay with me. I will explain the words I use to make it easier. The chakra system is the astral spinal network which is more or less an energy storage. The energy comes in from the back of the head in the medulla oblongota and is distributed throughout the chakras accordingly. Where the energy get's stuck is determined by your lifestyle. If you are a drug addict, obsessed with sexuality, obsessed with material things or your appearance, this energy is stuck at the base of the spine, the lowest chakra, the purple chakra in the picture on the crotch area. What is happening with your existance, however, is something not many people here understand. It is called the Kundalini Devi and She is manifesting your very awareness, your consciousness, your entire existance. Kund means 'coiled' and it is represented by the serpent imagery, this energy upon being born slowly desceneds in a coiled manner around the spine into the base, where it pretty much stays for the most part unless the yoga sadhana is done (system of meditation practice). In order to wake up into the Mind of God, this kundalini energy needs to be reversed, the pranic (energy) flow has to rise through the chakras, into the crown at the top of the head, so that the aspect of you being dreamed by God becomes you being awake in the mind of God. Illumination, moskha, enlightenment, Oneness. Remember what Jesus said? : ‘And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life' (John 3: 14). If you want to know more just ask me and I will give more details. But the main point here is that God can not be released by speculation and attempts at comprehension, the yoga sadhana must be performed. Also, someone on this very forum as attained this God Consiousness and wrote an entire book himself about how to do it. His screen name is Yogi Bhairava and if you are interested in speaking with I can point you in the right direction. Good luck my friend, keep it at, you are making the best descision of your life because this IS your life. Peace, Japa, & Sandalwood namaste family. - Surya (John)
Here's something I wrote to another member a few month's ago on the topic, if anyone is interested. Bhairva prabhu is who you really want to speak with as he's actually attained it, but this is at that point in time the extent of my experience and knowledge of the kundalini as being taught by Jesus : Christ teaching Kundalini? Kriya Yoga? 'And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life' (John 3: 14)Lifting up the serpent in the wilderness? How does this sit with you? Do you have a personal interperataion, wether literal or esoteric?I tend to see this as Christ referencing the practice of yoga. Raising the Kundalini from the base of the spine, up through the 7 chakras into the mind, in order to attain God-realization. Kundalini, from the saskrit root which means 'coil', isl ikened to a serpent that lies dormant in our spine, the source of our life energy that is only partially awakened normally and concentrated on one or a few chakras, causing an imbalance of kundalini energy. The chakras, if you arent already aware of their functions, are life-energy centers, 7 in all, that exist along our spines admist jumbles of nerve connections, and when the energy is focused on a specific center, imbalances occur. Kundalini awakening is to awaken to Self into God-realization, to become One with God rather than an individualized ego conciousness seperated from the Self. Literally, Kundalini is the cosmic dreamer, and we are the dream in the mind of God.To awaken our own conciousness in this dream is to be One with God. Living in the Sun. As Christ mentions here, seems to me that He is explaining that through yoga we atune to our chakras, all of them at once and become first entirley concious of our bodies, and by doing so we further awaken the kundalini energy up the spine into the 3rd eye chakra (Christ Conciousness) and then up into the seventh chakra (Crown chakra) thus merging into the infinite bliss of divine soul union with God. Sat Chit Ananda. I wonder what any Christian or non-Christian thinks on the matter, insulting remarks regarding the level of my mental stability are, as always, completley welcome. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In response to Craig and my method of approach to the Bible's words : Yea I know Craig, I've read the Old Testament as well. But the staff, actually the rod that moses held in his hand, became the snake, symbolizing his power of God-realization. Satan, in this sense, can be seen as the evil of the human desires, which influence us to act in a negative light (maya, the veil of cosmic delusion), and awakening of the Kundalini goes hand in hand with the mastery over one's conciousness to negate and fulfill desire. I dont take the Bible literally either, and I believe that when Christ speaks of Satan, He is also referring to desire. Remember when Satan came to Him in the wilderness and picked Him up, took Him over the city and put Him on the top of the Temple and said he would give Christ all control if only He would bow down before his will? I think in this instance, the temple of the body is what is being referenced, again, the Crown Chakra, the top of the temple of the human body, where God-realization is actualized. Christ refused because He already attained Christ Conciousness through the spiritual eye of spherical. omniscient insight, allowing Him to see all and merge His conciousness into a state beyond the Nirvanic plane, that of total Oneness with God, Sat Chit Ananda. Just another thought lol -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------By the way, many Hindu's carry a staff as symbolizing this power of the spinal centers, I'm not sure if you've ever noticed this in pictures of various Saint's and Guru's as well as devotee's... -Your friend, Surya Vidya (John) ---
yes this happened to me. i was feeling something again last night when i realized it and started to try and think about what i was feeling. and then it vanished just like that. lesson learned haha. anywayz i do have a couple of questions. firstly, does it matter if your eyes are open or closed? but here is my main one. i've been doing some reading about the pineal gland, which many people consider to be the literal third eye. the pineal gland is stimulated by periods of complete relaxation. so when you meditate, do you need to be in a certain stance or position, or does it matter as long as you are completely relaxed, such as laying down? and relayer thanks maybe he can offer some more tips for a beginner.
relayer you do have a very interesting way of perceiving the bible. you see the message for what it is, and at the same time seem to incorportate a lot of hindu overtones. if you dont mind me asking, what was the first religion you ever really studied? it's a really great way to look at the bible i think. i know you told me before, but do you consider Jesus the actual Christ?
The position you are looking for is sitting on your crossed legs, with hands resting palm upwards on both knees, head facing directly straight. This is the position for the proper regulation and distribution of prana, and is how you need to be in order to stir the kundalini into awakening. Also, if your not counting mantra on mala beads, with palms facing upwards, touch your middle finger to your thumb.
Christ just comes from Cristos, the Annointed One, or the Messiah. I believe that what that means, Christ, is actually Christ Consciousness, a level that anyone can attain once two conditions are met : 1. Negation of all desire and karma 2. Proper yoga sadhana When you love the life of all beings as your own, like Jesus did, and teach people, heal people with sheer will power, and pray properly, you WILL have the state of mind Jesus did. He was not the only one to get there so to speak. He was just one of several vehicles brought here to transport souls back to God. After all, "The Kingdom of God is within you..."
ya know what i did, it really helped me out a lot. i took 7 grams of mushrooms and meditated for the whole trip. getting up to drink some water and use the washroom of course. but i spent the whole trip alone meditating. coming up was what did it for me. i started meditating as soon as i ate the shrooms so i could feel what was happening. i let the mushrooms take me where i needed to go - i let them show me the way. meditation was easier for me after that trip - a lot easier.
agreed! this was the obstacle i hit as a nun...when i studdied the buddha and a few others i realized that they all had similar paths...that maybe "holy people like that" all seem to have similar things in common...that maybe this christ thing is an actual "type" of person--not the ONLY person. it didn't go over well. lol. its one of the reasons i left the church...my faith is too big for one religion...and my connection to god too intimite to allow an external intermediary. like the rastas say -its I and I.
eh. I consider Christ the Son of God. I dont think any of us could ever achieve his state of mind and his level of willpower.
Someone who I consider to be a spirit guide tells me he believes that anyone can be jesus christ. It is completely up to you. This guy unexplainably appears at my front door whenever something devastating is nearing in my life.
the point is that jesus was just one of us... his message was actually how we could be just like him and somehow that got lost along the way. jesus new that we could all be like him - his failure was having people worship him instead of seeing themselves as something just as divine. there are many people alive today who are saviors in their own right. not only can people achieve what jesus did i believe that we could do him one better. we would not be where we are without jesus but this time around we need someone better than jesus. in a way he is partly responsible for getting us into this mess. i am not saying that life would have been better if jesus was never born, i am saying that jesus could have done a better job. now, the only reason i can say that is because i am alive in 2007 living with the outcome. i am not sure if it is possible that anyone could have done a better job than jeses did way back when but i am sure that if the same dude tried his thing in 2008 there would be hell to pay. the messiah of the future will be much more evolved than jesus. hopefully this time no one will even know they exist. i am sure that would work much better than some guy who claims to be the savior or son of god. someone who needs no recognition for who they are might actually live long enough to make a real difference. i believe that there are millions of people scattered throughout the world who have the potential to do great things in life. no one should limit their capabilities. you say no one could ever achieve what jesus did - i say we could do better!
i've studdied jesus through my time in discernment to become a nun & later through the koran, and the sufi accounts of his travels even BEFORE he hit the road teaching etc. i never read anything that implied he asked to be worshiped. as a matter of fact it is well known that he taught people how to have their own connection to the divine. also he often said that people can do more than he could. when he supposedly said "i am the way, the truth & the light" i think he was talking in reference to the pharasies he was trying to bring down...meaning THEY aren't his salvation--he is his salvation, like WE are supposed to be our OWN salvation. not only that, but he empowered all his disciples to do all the things he could--making them equals. it was about 100 years after he died that people had the "ching ching" moment that they could use this famous guy as a way to cash in on people's vulnerability in a scary time. kind of like fidel castro uses Che Guevara as a poster boy when in reality most people believe that fidel is the one that had him murdered to keep him out of the way. they saw jesus's fame as a way to get and keep control & a lot of money. jesus was against organised religion and always associated with the most "lowly" of people. i think if he was worshiped it was because his gifts were so uncommon and his impact so huge, he was hard to forget. when you say that if someone tried this in 2008 there would be hell to pay....no shit! there was hell to pay then.....now it would be anarchy. someone like jesus--that high a vibration voice would inspire huge change in the way "the system" is being run. but i believe that there is no one next messiah. i believe the messiah in everyone will soon manifest and collectively we'll change together. when i look around at some of the blasphemy spoken in jesus's name: violence, greed, fear, guilt hatemongering, judgments, elitism etc i don't associate it with jesus...that's some rock star image of jesus-a pretend jesus poster boy for the lazy and unevolved. when i think of jesus i think of the being i studdied that ate vegan and loved everyone and had no posessions and slept in orchards. i feel that for many, the name jesus or word god gets associated mentally with religion & it turns people off...with good reason--too bad. i think jesus was the first ultimate hippie--and i bet he tried psychedelics! in the essene gospel he even alludes to marijuana use!
