Hi, My names Luke, I am getting into growing magic Mushrooms. I know people that grow Weed and pot, but i wanan go for somthing . .different. So far i have got these tools . . Pressure cooker 5l Fruitng trays Some canning jars Golves Temp reader Suitible enviroment Once i have the Heater(which Im Getting Soon) rye grain, More Jars, Humidity reader, And some other eqipment i will oder some syringes. I have a few questions and some things I'm not too sure about. In the fruiting process, you need sun light/ so the pin heads know which way to grow. If sunlight isn't availble would you have to use a Sodium light or is a normal light good enough? What's the temp for Incubation and Fruiting? 35C for incubation? 25C for fruitng? How Many flushes can you get with rye grain? Thanks for helping me out I have some pics but i don't know how to upload Sorry
Flourecent lights. 80-82 degrees for every phase. about 4 flushes. the 4th is a small output of large shrooms. FYI: weed is pot Growing legal magic mushrooms is cool.
Erm, i do have some pics, but it won't let me upload them unless i donate. First off The incubation phrase has to be kept around about 10C higher than the fruiting stage. So i am a little confused with that information that you gave me. Is there any reason why they have to be Flourecent lights? All i know about the lighting is that they need light when the pin heads start to show, So you can make them grow upwards. So surely a normal light(household Light) will do? All your help is very useful. Sorted most of it out, it's just the little things left. Sorry i ddin't mean weed and pot. They sell the resin and the buds. Not sure what they do with the leaves. Thanks again
80-82 degrees the whole time my friend. If you have other info...feel free to use it. Flourecent lights are convenient because they are long aottom of tnd you can place them directly on top of you bin (which holds your trays). This (and a little water in the bin), will help create a good amount of humidity. So in essence, you are correct; any light will do. In farenheit, what temps did you think you were supposed to colonize and 'flower' at? If it's like 80 and 83...then go for it. If either number is less than 80 or more than 84, you have bad info...IMO of course. FYI: Resin = hash (resin is the crap left in the bowl after you smoke...it's not sold)
Ooo I see, I didn't see where you wrote farenheit. I was thinking to myself 80 degrees? This is the information i have . . Fruitng: *around* 75 F - 23-24c Incubation: 85 F - 29.C Humidity, im not too sure about i think it has to be 80%+
I strongly recommend 80 for 'fruiting'. Even the most obscure strains seem to be able to handle it. The majotity of the strains prefer it, IMHO. As for humidity 70%-100% is fine. The heat in the grow area & the water inside of the bin or terrarium is what will create your humidity. Again, IMHO, 80-82 for every phase.
Somewhere in the 80s is definitely ideal for incubation, but it's not really something that you need to go out of your way for in order to attain. Using a clear container inside of a lit room at room temperature will work well enough unless where ever you live gets really cold. You certainly do not need to buy lights specifically for it. Also, keep the exposure to light minimal until the fruiting stage, because exposure to light (as well as fresh air and a drop in temperature) is sort of a signal for P. cubensis to start pinning. You also want the relative humidity to be as high as possible, not lower than 90% if you can help it; they'll still grow either way, but P. cubensis is 90% water, so think about it. Furthermore, the parameters are the same for every strain because they are all the same species and all require the same conditions.
Thanks for you help people, It really does help the new growers. I'm going to use the rye grain technic, bulk technic. And will most proberly start growing and selling. Not sure if i am allowed to put links in so if your not allowed im sorry.I plan on getting Panaeolus Cyanescens, in the extoic section in spores 101.Not sure what type, most proberly the Hawaiian strain. http://www.spores101.com/uk/cart.php?m=product_list&c=5 Any tips on what strains and what are the best would be greatful aswel. Like i said thanks alot people
The only thing with the light is that they're mostly unresponsive to the red end of the spectrum. Use blue Christmas lights. Remember, it's not a plant. More light does not necessarily equal more mushrooms. For incubation, keep it around 84 degrees F. Thermal death is around 92, and the jars produce heat themselves. Most reccomend 86, which should be the internal temp of the jar. To achieve this, it needs to be in an environment that's lower than 86 by a couple degrees. For fruiting, drop the temps by 10-15 degrees. There's no way to tell how many flushes you will get using any substrate. It depends on how well you keep your fruiting conditions. Most people get about 3-4 flushes out of each tray/jar.
wow it seems like you need to do a whole lot to even think about growing. is there any simpler ways? cuase i mean i dont have 200$ to spend on growing. and if i did. id just go buy some pot and shrooms not grow my own. hahaha
It's expensive and complicated. Things will go wrong and you won't knbow why. It's a bitch. Then again maybe you'll hit the jackpot with some grow kit. Not worth it, IMHO.
Well so far i have spent less than £50 . ..Which is around $97 The most expensive piece of equipment is the pressure cooker. If your just growing them for your own use then there is no point, if your going to deal or sell . .Then you might aswel start going. Can Anyone answer my question above on the Strains please? "I plan on getting Panaeolus Cyanescens, in the extoic section in spores 101.Not sure what type, most proberly the Hawaiian strain. http://www.spores101.com/uk/cart.php?m=product_list&c=5 Any tips on what strains and what are the best would be greatful aswel"
I think your problem is that no one recognizes the choices you have on the page there. That and nobody wants to admit what strain they have grown succesfully. IMO, out of those choices, Hawaiian is fine. If the spores are legit and things go well for you, it won't really matter all that much.

Soz didn't mean to double Post, Sorry! Thanks again, I have one more last small question . . Flurcent lights, do they have to be a certain distance from the mushroom? If they do, can you tell me the Minium. Difference between Psilocybe Cubensis & Panaeolus Cyanescens? Thanks again Luke
Most of the time the light will be on the outside of the bin. You can set in directly on top of the bin of you have a clear lid. Which is to say that 1-4 feet is fine. Buy the bulbs with the blue spectrum or whatever. I think that's 'cool white', can't remember.
PFtek is the most widely used growing method. It is cheap and easy as pie. For PFtek instructions go to: http://www.fungifun.org/fanaticus/pf-tek.htm You shouldn't have to spend more than $60 for a basic setup: 1 spore loaded syringe - $16-20 clear plastic storage tub with lid $10 fiberglass insert - $8 bag of vermiculite $2-5 bag of organic brown rice flour $4 scotch tape $2 half pint canning jars $7 foil $1 misting sprayer bottle $2 If you don't have a veggie steamer, you'd have to buy one of those as well. ($15-20), but most intelligent individuals can rig a regular large pot to work. Just throw in a few of the spare jar lid rings in the bottom of the pot to hold the jars above the bottom of the pot and the water. A bunch of rocks will work too. If your pot doesn't have a lid, throw a plate on top. Everything else is just bells and whistles, that improve quality/quantity. This is all you NEED to grow.
