I know it is a touchy subject and please if you are against it, dont post your opinion here. I just wanted to know if anyone here has had an abortion and how they felt afterwards. If you dont feel comfortable posting about it please PM me.

    I haven't, and wouldn't, but I'm VERY pro-choice.
One of my best friends just had an abortion, and very few people know/knew about it, and even though I'm pregnant and all, knowing how pro-choice and open about everything I am, she chose me as the one to talk to about it. Which means... yep, I got all the details.

What do you really want to know? How they felt afterwards - physically, emotionally, etc? You can PM me if you want, but here's the best I can do right now...

Physically, she was okay afterwards. She wasn't knocked out during it (didn't want to be) and she said there wasn't much pain, they numb the cervix and everything even if they knock you out, so you don't feel it as much when you wake up. She said the procedure itself was like a painless cramping feeling in her uterus. For a couple days after, she was in some pain, but it was bearable - she was still able to walk, drive, etc. but preferred to just lay down and take it easy (as you should). After a few days, she felt great.

Emotionally, well... she's "different". She called me the night she had it done, and she was actually cracking jokes about it, so I can't say too much about the "emotional" aspect because she was SO happy and relieved afterwards, it didn't bother her at all. She knew 100% that it was right for her and it was what she wanted, and she felt good about her decision.

i've never been preggers but i know my mom had one. when she told me she expected me to be upset but i was relieved. her boyfriend at the time was a complete jerk and there was no way i wanted a new little brother or sister anyway. i think she felt some guilt but after i explained to her how i felt about it i think it helped. this was many years ago, though.

I have never had an abortion but i do know some people that have and they went through a lot, they were depressed for so long but they eventually got over eveything and realized thats how life is. I know one took counseling for a year and the other is still in counseling. I think abortion is ok, i dont know why people are against it. A lot of people today cant afford to take care of a baby and a lot of those people are underage teenagers who made a mistake and shouldnt be punished like that because not only are they being punished but so is there family and the father of the childs family.

I student taught in the ghetto of the city this past semester. The area is considered a high drug and crime area. There was a girl in the 8th grade class that I was in who was pregnant. She told me that she wanted to get an abortion, but was unable to get one because she was underage and she hasn't seen her mom in almost a year. She never knew who her dad was. She had no one to sign for her to get the abortion that she wanted. She had to conform to a society's norm. She was forced to have the baby. I really felt horrible because I couldn't do anything but allow her to rent her emotions to me. If the government would mind their own business and allow a woman to make her own decisions then females like the student I had will not have to worry wither she will be able to feed the child and herself.

I'm pro-choice because I think that a government or other individuals don't have any room to tell me what I should or shouldn't do to my body. I think abortions should be accessible to all individuals regardless of age and should be free of cost. Abortions cost a lot of money. A lot of women are forced to have the baby because they don't have the $350 at the moment. I'm okay with my tax money funding abortions because it gives the choice back to women and it is cheaper than having a lot of unwanted people living in undesirable situations. We need to remind radicals that religion does not belong in politics. Stop bringing your own beliefs into policy making; instead, allow others to make their own choices.

As for me, I couldn't get an abortion because I don't think I could go through the procedure. If I was raped or homeless, then I would get one. At the moment I am making good enough money to handle the consequences.
