well, DMT is naturally produced by the human brain, so its not toxic or damaging to yer brain in a long term sense. it has the same negative potential as most typical hallucinogens, but definitely does not cause permanent irrepairable brain damage. where did you even hear about this myth? Ive never heard any bullshit facts about DMT, I assume because it is so uncommon.

I have heard of 5-meo-dmt causing long-term problems for certain people. there are people that have been referred to that after doing dmt, they had such a hard time with sleep and mental stability they needed medication to live a normal life. I do not know if they are dose sensitive but it should be a common fact that psychedelics are putting you at risk for changing your brain chemistry and possible awakening latent inherent genetics problems at a long-term use scale. there may not be a large risk, but there is always a risk with anything.

Did you hear about those problem anecdotally, about someone you know, from a good source, or just as a rumor? I don't think N,N Dmt is any more physically harmful than any medication, and probably much less toxic. (including probably some OTC meds.) Any of these things will alter your chemistry...like sugar or coffee does.

5-meo-dmt is a lot different than N,N dmt, so I think it's important to separate them. Mimosa Hostilis does not contain 5-meo-dmt, and is the most common source used to extract DMT where I'm from.

I think that the problem with false scary info no drugs is that after you realize they are false, you might ignore all warnings. I think that is the main reason marijuana is a gateway drug...people realize it's all lies about weed and think the same is true about cocaine, oxy, or alcohol and become addicted and ruin their lives. (Not to say smoking weed can't hurt your life...but most of the warnings are not related to the real risks.)

I think you should do research on sites like erowid.org and look at the data rather then get information from here...including from me. (Except to look elsewhere.) Here is a good place to get non-scientific information about the experiences people have.

I don't want to encourage you to use DMT. I do think that it could be harmful, for instance if it contains solvent residue because it was poorly extracted. It could certainly change your outlook on life, which to some could be considered negative. You're young, you could wait and decide when you are older and might have a better perspective on whether you want to experiment or not.

It will certainly be a psychological experiment, and could cause some anxiety. I like the way someone put it (probably on erowid) that some people have trouble integrating the experience into their reality....which could be considered bad.

Move slowly, get the scientific facts from non-biased sources, and take things into perspective.

It is a sad truth of our society that psychedelic tryptamines have been barely studied. The best evidence I have is from the tribal use of ayhauasca. It has been consumed for religious and medical purposes and I know of no deleterious consequences on the human body. Its not addictive. Brain Damage from things like alcohol and methamphetamines normally occurs over a long period of abuse. Of course there could be exceptions. I reckon that most exceptions are from coincidental psychiatric problems or solvent poisoning.

dimensiontripping- Its odd you say that when I was in college one my friends who was tripping on DMT pretty heavy at the time said it started to really mess up his sleep patterns. He also said that if he used it real heavy for a few weeks or so the next few days were like after he took alot of X. He would get depressed, a lack of motivation, depressed etc. I never got any of those systums myself from using DMT. But on the other hand I never used it as heavy as him. He was smoking the shit all the time way to much.

Yeah...you're right...I guess my advice doesn't really work when there isn't much scientific information available about these things.

With any psychoactive one puts one's mind at risk. Whether permanent neurochemical changes occur or not the entire purpose of ingesting a chemical revolves around temporary changes.

Even science can only study observable phenomena, not subjective effects, so YMMV.

DMT can never hurt anybody long term...
Every night as we sleep heavy doses of DMT are pumped throughout our brain, all we do as we sleep is relax in a psychedelic trip that we cant remember when we wake up...

dmt is in our blood at all times, meaning it is in your brain. everywhere.
    it likes water.
ask yourself not where it is
    but where it isn't
all around us on this Earth.

Smoking DMT can't be great for your lungs or brain or nervous system in the long run if you smoke it a lot. it's a fucking sacred little key indeed. savor it's existence like your soul, Deech.

Deech-Dude its theory that in rem sleep and when the Brain is near Death that DMT is pumped out affecting your brain's serotonin system. There are tons of studies that say its true and tons that say its false ??? And it is not in are blood stream at all times . Yes the blood has enzymes to synthesize DMT which has never been done may I add. Its like saying all poppie plants have Herion running threw them, When in fact you have to synthesize then Herion and make it from from only one part of the poppy plant. same thing with the coco plant its what makes cocaine it has not one drop of coke in it you have synthesize it ???Over all we only know about 0.1% about DMT and its affects on the human brain and body. There are still years and tons of studies to be done on it.Not to many long term studies have been done on its affets on the human body so who knows what it does to thebody or Brain, It could really fuck you up or it could hardly do anything to you at all ? Its probaly the least known Drug out there ? Or even least known chemical for that matter ??? Its a mystery

DMT is a natural neurotransmitter in the brain. It causes absolutely NO organic damage to the body or brain. It's one of the safest drugs, physically, that exists, besides LSD, psilocin, and cannabis.

I find it to be extremely euphoric, insightful, alien, intense, and pleasurable.
That is the biggest load of bullshit I have ever heard. The most unresearched chemical ever? ha ha ha ha ha. There have been thousands of studies done on DMT, its effects, and its safety. It is an extremely well researched drug. It has been being used for 1000s of years by peoples all over the world with no real adverse effects. McKenna actually reported a lower instance of mental illness in tribes that used Ayahuasca than normal people.
