a voice in my dreams told me i was the chosen one and that i was supposed to feed myself to a mighty serpeant. wtf dude. where did this voice come from. i couldnt make it up. why would i subconciously tell myself to kill myself.
Hi, why you ? Just consider you are your own answer, beyond the fears, poses, questions, and the traps of self-occupation. The snake is about coming to a place of greater truth within. It is also called change. So mabe this is not as bad as it sounds, is it ? Just a thought.
That was probably your higher self speaking to your conscious self. Since the serpent represents knowledge don't be surprised if you go on a journey for ultimate truth. Just be very careful of temptations along the way. You're young. I wouldn't worry about it too much. You may want to develop the ability to ask yourself the meaning of the dream while you are still in the dream.
The voice was definitely your subconscious, although I don't believe the serpent represents knowledge as White Feather posted. Rather, I believe the serpent represents the primitive, instinctive structure of our minds. Some psychologists have termed it the "reptilian brain", hence the serpent. This is more commonly called the brain stem, in charge of the autonomous functions of the brain (breathing, pain control, and consciousness). As far as being told you were to be fed to the serpent, the voice of wisdom may not mean literally. It may mean you are destined to meet it and you'd be at its mercy. We all must deal with this structure of the brain which manifests itself in dreams as various characters. For instance, I recently had a dream involving an alligator. He had an alligator tamer next to him who was opening the mouth and shoving his hand in the mouth (while the alligator was roaring and making a fuss), then proceeding to stick his head in the alligators mouth. Of course, the alligator closed its mouth on the guy's head, but he was not injured and there was no blood. He says to me, "Here, this is yours. Take it." I'm thinking, "I dunno what to do with it." So, I accept his offer and the next thing I realize is that I'm on the ground and the alligator is nibbling on the top of my head. I was scared at first, but his nibbles were soft as if he was curious as to who this new person is. It was quite a remarkable sensation having an alligator nibble on your head. lol. Something I was frightened of turned out to be something which was pleasant once I accepted it. I've dealt with this force several times before. Each dream it's a slightly different character, usually less threatening than the dream before. Well, I hope this helps. Thanks for reading.
We could get into a very deep discussion as to what constitutes consciousness, specifically consciousness as it pertains to the unconscious and autonomous control of trhe body, but any search of that nature will ultimately lead to the formation of knowledge. Such a search usually takes on spiritual connotations. One could try to employ an understanding of Kundalini (the serpent power) via controlled breathing (prana) to seek Enlightnement. If that is the case then the dream is obvious. He has chosen to try to become Enlightened, usually necessitating a spiritual quest.
Yes, I agree that such a search does take on spiritual connotations. The serpent may in fact represent knowledge if he has gained some insight by meeting it. However, he says he didn't see or come into contact with this serpent. If he did meet it, it's possible he may not gain insight about anything. Not all searches lead to the formation of knowledge. Some searches may be perilous depending upon circumstances. Therefore, I think it's incorrect to assume the serpent represents knowledge in itself. But more, a symbol that he is currently on a quest for knowledge, and confronting this serpent is first on his "To do" list. Maybe that's what you meant and I misunderstood you.
