so, i'm starting dreads. i used wax for a week and then washed it out and backcombed my hair again. the wax was just too un-comfortable. now my hair are really buff and some of the dreads are flat and palm rolling doesn't help. all i'm doing is sleeping with a woollen hat and spraying my hair with dreadheadhq locking accelerator. for shampoo i'm using the dreadheadhq dread soap (liquid, leaves no scent). so am i going the right way?
(sorry if i made alot of grammar/spelling mistakes, i'm an Estonian :p).

i use the dreadheadhq soap. it works allright for me. good job on getting rid of the wax. i used it for a day and it drove me crazy. a couple of mine are flat, too. i wouldn't worry about them.

doc bronners is decent in my experience, dreadheadhq has some nasty chemicals in it, irritated my scalp, and dried out my hair. And as far as I'm concerned your spelling and grammer are better than most Americans :)

get the bands out. they do more harm than good in the long run. there's a thread around here that goatboy posted that shows the evils of rubberbanding. i'm too lazy to search for it right now, but suffice it to say that junk will melt into your hair and become goo that's nearly impossible to get out.

some bands do not melt into hair, my boyfriend has one in his hair that has been there forever... and is like new, still stretchy and all. though his dreads were fairly mature when it was put in. if you must use them, just know the bands you are using and pay attention to them.

get those things out and make sure you get them all. Double Check. Those bands will melt into your locks and the only way to get them out is to cut. I will bump the post I made with rubberband gunk pictures.

its not melting from heat. the rubber gradually deteriorates until it just becomes a black glob of goop. trust me take them all out. have someone check to make sure you got them all out. then check again to make sure you got them all out. i missed 2, found them several months later and ended up having to take scissors to them.
