Personally, I think all the classic horror movies were produced throughout the '70s and well into the '80s. Movies like 'Carrie' and 'The Shining' will always be classics in my heart, man.

What are you favorite horror classics?

For me, classic horror is Night of The Living Dead, the original. Black and white done by collage students. I was pregnant at the time I saw it in the theater, and I tell you that baby kicked all to hell. :p

    the original Nosferatu from 1925.
Silent, black and white, and still scarier than most recent stuff.

I agree. That movies creeped the shit out of me when I first seen it.

I think a "classic" horror movie would be Rosemary's Baby or The Exorcist.

And I don't know why people consider Carrie a horror movie. If anything I'd say it's a drama. I didn't find it to be scary at all but more so sad. I felt bad for Carrie.

Or the Return of the Living Deads. Aside from those Psycho was great as was Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Lost Boys, and the original Wickerman.

It's The Shining for me, hands down. The only modern one I've seen that I like at all is The Descent.
