On three occasions I have turned into a nervous sweating wreck because of a movie. These are the movies that have fucked with my mind and made me extremely tense for a good amount of the movie: 1. Requiem for a dream 2. Clockwork Orange 3. Texas Chainsaw massacre (1974) <The last twenty minutes are so FUCKED UP!!! Those three movies were screwed up in so many ways, but kept your interest nonetheless. These movies can be called mind fucks or psychological horror, as opposed to the more typical gratuitous horror of movies like Jason or what not. In my opinion, those are the top 3 in the psychological/mind fuck genre, what are yours?
requiem is definately a very emotionally charged movie. the last one i saw that really shook me was the seventh seal. a bit weird and artsy, but interesting and impressive (especially for the low budget).
1. Inland Empire 2. Eraserhead 3. David Lynch's Short films 4. Muhalland Drive (dont think i spelt that right) 5. 2001 A space Odysey
1. Requiem for a Dream 2. Waking Life 3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 4. A Scanner Darkly All fabulous, of course.
Tommy1 got it right. Anything by David Lynch. You should also see "Altered States". I don't remember who directed it. "Bad Boy Bubby" is another good one.
Lynch, sure. in that sense, I'd advise Un Chien Andalou. if you mean actually disturbing films, watch this French flick called Irreversible. unsurpassed in fucked-upness. ever see Gummo? I don't think A Clockwork Orange is that hard to stomach. very violent, but really not much worse than Straw Dogs which came out the same month. Requiem is uncomfortable and upsetting, sure.
Me and you and everyone we know eternal sunshine was very fucked also. Last Days was also fucked. Kind of about Cobain, whome i dont like but a very fucked up movie.
Truman Show- It has given me some crazy thoughts in the past like 'am I just like Truman, and my world isnt real, I'm on film (maybe not even that, just everything isnt real). But I dismissed them as crazy thoughts, and I try not to think to hard into it.Its Truman-:boat: lol (simple I know)
Se7en The Shining Anything by David Lynch Brazil 12 Monkeys The Fisher King Jacob's Ladder The Machinist Memento Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Being John Malkovich Adaptation Leaving Las Vegas Natural Born Killers Vanilla Sky (I kind of have mixed feelings on this one, but it's pretty trippy) The City of Lost Children Barton Fink
camp jesus pretty much screwed up my vision about religious americans crossing the bible belt (sorry, had to comment on this one, and no, I know not every american is like that.) hmmz, maybe I should start a topic about this movie, if there already isn't one
