I Hate Oprah

This is why I hate Oprah:

She is fucking loaded, talks about doing nice things, talks about helping Africa, but what does she do with her half billion dollars? She gives everyone in her audience an SUV and suddenly she is a hero.

Good going.

One of the biggest hypocrites that happens to appear on your television screen.


Yes, I know she donates more than any celebrity. But I ask you, is her money doing absolutely anything? Instead of devoting all of her time to these goals, she looks into how she can make more money, and inevitability this is going to take time away from her "philantropy". Money is nice, but you need more than that... guidance is one of them. And instead of using her influence to reshaping Africa, she goes around her offices talking about her magazine.

 

she has a school for girls in africa, too. the only reason i know is because one of the teachers there was involved in a molestation allegation or something, but that has nothing to do with oprah herself.

Too a certain degree, I guess. But overall, that statement goes all off the place, and doesn't really delve deep into the human condition.

Some are just better at being a hypocrite than others.

She has the ability to change things, but doesn't. And one school in Africa isn't much, especially considering how much more she can be doing.

well technically you could dedicate your life to a cause, sell your computer to feed a family, sell your tv, live in your car, eat ramen noodles and give all the money you save to charity. are you a bad person for not doing those things?

i know its different, but the principal is the same. if you want to be mad at a rich person, be mad at paris hilton. oprah grew up poor and earned her money.

 

I dunno how to respond to your comment, honestly. Not being rude, but I change what I can around me. Everyone has different personalities, and different uses, and meaning in life.

Me being on these boards, talking to people about thing, is one of my ways I help and make a difference. Being responsible in my own life, and caring for those that I love. That's what I have been involved with, and me just being near those I care about, change a little for the better - The same way I change when they are near me.

 

I don't hate the fact that Oprah is rich, and became a success. I just hate the fact that she can do so much more with her political influence, but it just doesn't seem that she is.

She talks about changing African nations, yet with her money, and political influence, she can achieve so much. It is in her personality to be able to do these things, without changing who she is as a person.

For me, I can't do what she does... but she can do it, because that's who she is... yet she isn't doing it, and that's what bothers me about her.

you can't judge her for not living up to the standards you hold her to. why does she have to do anything?

She pretends to be a humanitarian on her show. She always says she cares about this, and cares about that. But really, instead of fulfilling on her own beliefs, she spends most of her time working on her mag or show. If she were a true humanitarian, you would see different actions from her. I won't say what specific actions, but chatting it up about what toys you should buy, or what books you should read; Isn't one of them. All of this takes time away from what she says that we should all do... yet doesn't do it herself...

 

I need to be a member of her audience asap

exactly! the fact that she does help people should be reason enough to at least respect her, not bitch because she doesn't help people enough (or as much as you think she should).

would you walk up to someone who works at a soup kitchen and say "hey! i saw that new car you're driving! why didn't you spend that money buying clothes for the homeless you jerk?!"
