Simple enough title. Just my own opinion. I hate that there is so much violence on TV these days. (My gawd, I've become my grams! LMAO!) But really. How can any of us keep begging for world peace when violent entertainment rules the box office and airwaves. What kind of message are we sending into space?

Just a little something to get you to think for yourselves, and wake up from the current World bullshit.

TV reflects the nature of society. Both are quite ill.

I agree with the title of the post, way to much violence and racism.

I don't watch violent TV shows, either. But I think violent people are violent whether they watch violent shows or not.

My problem is they innoculate young kids into this same kind of mindset where life is seen as cheap.

We're raising warriors folks. And it's being done with intention. Society is being programmed for war.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. The media is owned by the government and every single time you turn on the television, you're being a little bit brainwashed.

I really don't think violence on tv does much to provoke violence in life
and I really don't think too many television executives care about much else than 'will they watch it?'

thats very true, but when you have young impressionable minds watching violent tv shows, they dont know any better. i remember what it was like to be a kid, most dont think for themselves in a lot of respects especially when it comes to television (thats not to say kids are completely ignorant but, come on. maturity matters when it comes to things like this) it seems like tv watching popularity is dying down though, something ive noticed here where i live. its a good thing, to say the least :)

freedom of expression. If you don't want your kid watching, don't let them, but don't ruin it for the rest of us.

    I don't have children.

Your opinion may change when you find yourself on the receiving end of some young man who has little respect for his own life, to say nothing of yours.

thats why I'm not having kids. I'm independent and want to focus on my own life. not have it ruined by a child.

ruined...? you can still have a life and have children.. thats sad, one of the many joys of life is supposed to be having children and a family. i by no means am anywhere near that point in my life, but i know how saddened i would be to be old and not have any children/grandchildren/new family to visit me. family are like unconditional friends... love is just one of the human characteristics. you'll see later on in life, perhaps. as will i, for myself.

I see children as something that would hold me down. I am not good at caring for children; I am too harsh and judgemental and impatient. I'd rather focus on myself and my own journey.

TV would be pretty unrealistic without violence on it.

I'm not so sure. I think it's about 50-50. Half of our personality is due to own nature, sure, but the other half is due to our environment we grow in. If violence wasn't synonym with entertainment, at least it would help.

I think when I'll have kids, I'll probably won't have a TV until there at least like 10. They'll go play outside, that's it!:X

Also, don't you think people that watch violent shows will be a bit less shoked when the see in the news all the violence that takes place in the world?

Instead of looking at realistic TV shows, why don't we just observe reality, without obstacle? ;)

TV alone won't give you an objective view probably, but why don't we observe both. It's an interesting reflection at least.
I personally, at first instance, would love to be able to say that I don't like violence. At second instance I don't really see why. I like violence, it's a fact. Now, that doesn't mean I like to bash or hurt people or something (on the contrary), it's just a part of nature that we don't have to be hypocrite about. I also don't like all rubbish on TV with violence in it. Actually, I find it pretty dumb to judge if a program's good or bad because if it contains violence or not. It's how and why it's in it which makes it good or bad. I agree that it's too often mixed with lame cartoon and action storylines and stupid set up 'reality' shows and so on. The overall movie or format of the program is what it makes bad. I love me some well placed violence in a good movie. What is a western without a beaten up anti-hero and bloody gunfights, or a historical movie about the slavery? Should we just leave the violence out because it gives a bad example? I also liked to play soldier as a kid after I watched Tour of duty, but it didn't made me a violent person at all. In combination with an agressive mindset and/or parents that gave the wrong example maybe. Parents have to watch their children and adults have to use their reason. Quality of TV programs could be a lot better. Just ban violence of TV is not a solution in my opinion.
