    freerice.com is addicting. It cures long hours of boredom when I'm skipping school.

    What's YOUR highest vocab level?

    It raises an eyebrow over here too....

    What sense does it make? Why not just donate the maximum possible amount straight off the bat? Why do I need to play a wordgame for hungry people?

    Kinda sick and twisted....

    Yes it is pretty sad that they don't just donate the money. It's fun though. I am also a nerd though, so ya know...

    I've been up for 20 hours, and I need to be up again in 5, so I'll keep this brief, and elloborate on it later.

    Food aid should olny be given in famines.

    The cause of hunger in impoverished parts of the world isn't a lack of food, it's a lack of resources, and those resources are financial or services *roads, irrigation, refrigeration*

    I'll repeat that, hunger isn't because of not enough food. Theres more then enough food grown in African nations *which is an easy comparison* to feed their populations.

    The financial aspect is really in play here, and it's part of a way that affluent countries (such as the US, European nations, and Japan) exploit underdeveloped markets.

    Essentially whqat happens is that these wealthy nations, artificially deflate the price of their own crops. They impose export subsudies, so the prices of their crops are very cheap.

    So cheap in fact, that developing markets will purchase them instead of local crops. The reality of starvation in the world, is farmers with fields of wheat with their family suffering from malnutrition and their wheat rotting in fields.

    These programs also contribute to these food dumping programs. They pump excess unneeded cheap produce into foreign markets, deflating their prices, so local farmers can never escape poverty.

    Heres a good opening article into these food dumping practices.

    Makes perfect sense.

    There is absolutely no reason for a country to be hungry, it doesn't make any sense... how did it exist in the first place if it could never feed its population? Why don't they simply take care of themselves?

    See above reason.

    Anything to do with the united nations has to make ya wonder... especially when the words are all coming from some cooperation! http://www.lexiteria.com/

    The words are very catholic, and very fear mongering. There are zingers in there, but for the most part it almost seems like a subliminal message.

    This was kinda odd:
    girth = circumference
    splay = spread apart
    convex = bulging outward
    chaste = pure
    ------

    dowdy = frumpy
    obdurate = stubborn
    effeminacy = womanishness
    forbearance = patience
    dapper = stylishly dressed
    afflict = trouble
    ream = block of paper
    heliocentric = sun-centered
    medial = middle

    The words are not random, they are grouped in a certain way.

    egalia = royal finery
    insurrection = uprising
    ocular = visual
    guff = nonsense
    cognition = knowledge
    anomaly = irregularity
    enigma = riddle
    cronyism = favoritism to friends
    docket = agenda
    coup = takeover
    averse = reluctant
    gaga = crazy
    aggrandize = make greater
    attentive = heedful

    "Uprising against royalty is nonsense. Being intelligent isn't normal, you aren't capable of figuring it out."

    "We have an agenda to take over, those who oppose are crazy. We will attentively grow."

    A stretch, perhaps... but I take nothing at face value when it comes to international politics in particular. Wrapping such motives into "feeding the poor" when doing so is only making things worse...

    Raises an eyebrow, or 2 :)

    Why would you skip school to play a wordgame?

    Isn't that a little counterintuitive? And no I didn't have to learn that from a website.

    Haha. This sounds rather stupid, but I have 43598 people coming in for Christmas, and my mom needed me to help her clean. I was on a break. :/ Now I'm off to read those other posts...

    thats the point.

    When the first word I got was "detonation - explosion" and I saw this was through the UN... yea.

    It would be nice to have someone go over the ordering with a phsyciatric background - they would better be able to make out any possible "suggestions"... but without a doubt the words are NOT random and they are VERY negative.
