damn, i took ginseng the first time today. i've been feeling under the wheather for a while now and have heard many very good things about ginseng for achieving and maintaining good health for pretty much the whole body...

now i know it has a reputation for boosting energy and mental clarity and is put in a number of energy drinks and trucker type OTC capsules...but i also knew that most of the herbal remedy things you get from the grocery store are of low quality and weak, as in the case with kava kava...so the bottle said to take three in one day, and take them with water and food ideally...thinking it couldnt hurt, i took two first thing this morning, and one at lunchtime instead of three spead out over the day. i've had tremendous energy, its quite stimulating. i noticed increased perspiration (but not problematic) and lost my appetite...i didnt eat until i had a cheeseburger and some onion rings at dinnertime. up till then i hadnt had a bit all day. now i'm snacking on cheese and crackers. but i just haven't really been hungry. i drank a bottle of sparkling wine and didnt blink...its crazy, this stuff definitely has an upper-type of effect.

ive felt a little overstimulated to be honest, i dont deal with stimulants particularly well. but this stuff is supposed to have some pretty good effects for the whole body in terms of health, so i'll keep taking it for a bit and see for myself if i think its worthwhile as anything more than a stimulant.

but for generic grocery store herbal pills (tablets, even) it was surprisingly potent stuff.

my dad "goes shangin'" as he calls it. he walks through the woods and finds ginseng plants, picks em, dries em and i think he sells it to some old guy for something crazy like $400 an ounce. i don't know the whole deal, but apparently that stuff has quite a market. i just remember thinking "wow that's even more expensive than weed!!"

yeah ginseng is pretty pricey for good stuff as i understand it. theres big money in wildcrafting, especially since the american ginseng is actually STRONGER than the asian ginseng, and as its one of the most fundamental herbs in traditional chinese medicine, theres a large asian market for american ginseng. in fact it gets a high enough price that some people actually will go so far as to steal the wild stuff off of other people's land, steal a farmer's crops before the farmer can harvest, all sorts of things i've heard of. dont know how common such crimes are, but yeah i guess it has a lot of similarities with pot when it comes to how people treat it.

its expensive, but pots still more expensive.

course you also have to take into account there may be more expensive ginseng out there. i'm not positive, but i believe wild plants are supposed to be better quality as well as older plants....i dunno

Hmm i've tried a number of herbal supplements in the recent past so maybe il give this one a try. Couldnt hurt and everyone loves some extra energy. Are there different forms (powder, liquid etc) or just the tablets? Might order some online.
