Oral piercings and smoking

I'm thinking of getting a lip piercing. Dunno if smoking will infect it? I mean I can ask the piercer, but he'll ask "what are you gonna smoke?" and I don't know if it is safe to tell the truth.

So, any of yallz got any piercings, or at least freshly done ones and have you been able to smoke?

 

i have my lip pierced..
when i got it done it was a little painful to smoke cause it was swollen and sore,
but it won't infect it or anything, just keep it clean

It's cause I read on wikipedia that smoking hinders healing, but it mihgt not be true =)

 

mine healed up fine, so i say smoke up

as for kissing.. it hurts but i think it's worth it lol

 

I think I'll ask the piercer about that... the kissing part. Cause I read also that other diseases will be passed on to the wound and I don't want that =)

other than for the initial healing stage, there isnt much of a worry bout anything other than what an unpierced lip person would have. The first week or so they are a bit painful a bit swollen perhaps , but other than that they are pretty carefree... Depending on where you place the piercing on the lip , you may have a few things ya find awkward at first... until ya get used to it..

 

i had mine for about 2 months or so and i'm used to it already,
i think my piercer said that mouth piercings are the fastest ones to heal

if you do get it pierced, don't use mouthwash to clean it out

yes.. and wash your face with mild soap like dial or something to clean the outside

 

i smoked weed with my piercer after my labret piercing..

 

I stupidly pierced my own lip in the middle of math class one day last year. Me and my friend were high and he just looked at me like wtf because I just picked up a paperclip, bent it a few ways, put it on my lip, and pushed. Then i took out my hoop earing and put it in. Never got infected, and I also smoked later that day. Cotton mouth makes it hurt like fuck if you try and move it around, but it won't do that after it heals. Thank god that never got infected, lol.

 

If you smoke, just make sure to be more strict with your cleaning routine.

i'd worry more about drinking if ya drink at all.. like beer.... if it gets in the hole and its not cleaned up... you could get a yeast infection...

yea.. i switched out my labret stud for a hoop... it took me awhile to learn to drink shit without dripping all over myself

 

yeah i had a hoop first then switched to a stud not that long ago..
it was weird feeling at first and every time i drank something it seemed so weird, but i'm used to it now.

can the hoop/stud wear away at your teeth and gums though?
cause my stud i have in now always seems to be rubbing against my gums

 

^^^ thats why i switched to a hoop.. it doesnt seem to rub as much as the stud did.. actually the stud made my gums so sore i had to switch and i could see my gums slowly wearing away so i switched.. and now all is gravvy baby

 

yeah my gums are a little sore too..
i'll switch to a hoop soon, when i move back to college
mom doesn't like seeing me with a hoop in my lip lol
