i know it would be hard to open your own business, but it would be awesome if i could actually do it. be my own boss and bake cookies all day, i mean hell, what could be better? how much money do you think it would take to open a tiny little bakery in a city somewhere? is this a feasible idea? if you were to open your own business, any business, and be guaranteed success, what would it be? it doesn't have to be legal.
Call up a realator. Depends almost exclusively on location costs. Your main concern will be getting the word out there and attracting a lot of customers. It'll be the hard part. Just getting the word out. I recommend going somewhere public with free samples. Maybe see if you can bring them into high schools on a special day. For where you live, ten grand maybe. You'll want to build up credit and get a loan for that. Or you can just save up. That'll cover your ovens and rent for your shop for 6 months. You will almost defiantly lose money for the first 6 months. I would want to open a production company. Movies are what I'm intrested in creating, but it'd be great if I could sponsor some bands too. Secondly a kickboxing gym.
When you open a bakery you should make SPECIAL brownies, hehe. Yup people would buy a shit-lode of those.
I don't know how much it would take to open a business like that, but I would imagine it would be quite a bit. But, hey, if I was to open a guaranteed successful business, it would be a library/bookstore/recordstore, where you could buy or borrow books/records. There would be a coffee shop/reading centre where you could go and hang out just to read or listen to sounds and a huge outdoors area.
It's a great idea if you are in a decent sized city, especially one with a big college. I'm living near Bloomington, Indiana (home of IU) and downtown they have a place called "BAKED" and it's the chillest little bakery you could imagine... I was just talking about it today actually, they have TVs and video games set up that the customers can play, hip music, and a place to make your own signature to post to the wall, saying that you "GOT BAKED"! haha, it was a great idea I thought... unfortunately I don't know much about how they opened the place, but it smelled damn good inside and they were open late-night for when all the bars & clubs closed.
If you're in it for the enjoyment, as in, baking for others, using your skills as a way of expressing your creativity, and great financial gains are not a top priority (as in, running a small business) then I'd say go for it! Start small, see where it leads. You don't want to get in over your head from the get-go. My SIL and I are running a small home-based baking business and I absolutely love it. Eventually we may go bigger...my SIL's husband is quite a businessman and has pretty much offered to fund us starting our own shop, has even checked out some locations for even just a mass baking center for us, but right now, we (SIL and I) want to keep it small, what with having young children. Eventually however, we might be looking into opening up an actual shop. Only time will tell. Anyway, there are many grants available for women who wish to start their own business...all you need to do is a little digging! Location will play a lot in whether you will succeed, as well as word of mouth. Good luck to you, and if you want it bad enough, you can and will do it!
Even if you start off small and just make a single flyer like order sheet and take it around, advertise a little you never know what might happen. If you got the pans, bowls, mixer, ect laying around all the better! Yes Im still trying ot get HCM to ship, lol
I was thinking.. would it work to open up a food store specificly for stoners? and call it... 420 Food or something? Just sell all the best crisps, ice cream and candy etc and have pyscadelic pictures up everywhere.
I'm telling you, that's exactly how the place in Bloomington is. It's called "Baked! of Bloomington", and it's the shizzle. check it out- http://www.bakedofbloomington.com/ wow, I'm reading on their website they sell more than 20,000 different kinds of cookies! /drool
Yes, it would take a lot of work and dedication to have your own business but it's very achievable... If it's something you want to do you should do it, you only live once... I would love LOVE my own business, it would be filled with my art and sculptures and so forth...probably would go out of business after the first week..
Thats awesome!! I really really want to have my own cafe thing one day... its definitely possible but can't guarantee making lots of money
I think I would either like to own a head shop/music store or a nice bar where I could have all my favorite bands play
ima gunna open up the half baked bakery... no seriously... thats all the details i am giving up... it wont be your ordinary cafe/bakeshop i can assure you though
