Synchronised periods?

Why does it sometimes happen that when a group of girls live together they synchronize their periods?

I mean, i know there must be a biological reason for this but what the hell is it?

 

so far as i know there is no known reason .. the closest science has been able to come up with is pheromones and some studies deny it happens altogether..... i personally feel it is some sort of empathic thing that happens somehow, just dont ask me how mice n guinea pigs tend to do the same though ....

 

Maybe it's to give any male housemates at least three weeks of peace in a month.

But seriously, it's kinda weird, 'cos doesn't that then mean that the girls would all be in peak fertility at the same time too? Which from a reproduction(finding a mate) point of view would surely be counter-productive, right?

to be honest i have never thought that much on the whole synchronization thing ,,, perhaps its cuz i couldnt stand being with another female long enough to cycle together ...

 

It's just something that came up with a group of girlfriends last night and although 3 of them had gotten their periods in sync since living together, the other hadn't. So they were taking the piss out of her for thinking too much of herself to join the masses etc.

Today, I've been wondering...

 

is the fourth one a moon cycler?? Sounds corny n off the wall but i tend not to cycle with other women when they are around but i do cycle with the moon

 

I don't really know but I think she has at least seen ET.

I think if I ask her whether she is a moon-cycler or not without first explaining what I meant, she would think I was mental.

That's it then. I'm gonna ring all my girlfriends tonight asking them if they are moon-cycler/cyclist. I should get at least a few bizarre replies, a few bemused silences and maybe if I'm lucky even a 'Fuck off!'

 

you should give your kiddies an assignment and turn this into a full all out study of synchronization and cycling and then publish it ... i am sure with a bit of imagination you could make it a good learning experience for all,,,

Thailand is so conservative. I don't even know how I would try to explain the question to my students without blushing.

I've always been an open person with absolutely no scruples but after 18 months here I find I am becoming more Thai. I mean it's quite riske talking about this with my university aged friends.

pheremones baby. though if someones on birth control (the pill) they probably wont sync up since the hormones there control when the period is

 

i always thought it was because our periods are almost never exactly 28 days apart, and so the differences here and there eventually close the gap.

 

I met a few girls in an art class I am taking and within a month and a half we were synchronised...

 

I've heard of that happening.. but heh I don't believe it... I live with a roommate (have for the past year and a half) and our periods aren't in sync.. never have been.​
