i'd like to see him turn water into bacardi 151. and create a species of cat that always stays in kitten form.
The Bible is on the same level as Greek Mythology, Science Fiction, and Danielle Steele. I'd rather learn my morals and lessons from Kurt Vonnegut.
"Danielle Steele" and "well read" should never go together in the same sentence Eww... it's like John Grisham or Dan Brown... eww.
The old testament really is just poetic verse abridging semitic history. These stories aren't meant to be taken literally. They are moral homilies. And their not always good ones. The bible advocates many attrocities. I'm somewhat confused when people say it's a how civilization set's it's moral compass. As if they belived the Jews were walking around thinking murder and rape were fine things to do. Only to make it to Mt. Sinai and discover that god says these things are bad.
Yea, more than likely it is magic mushrooms. It could potentialy be a few plants, but the description in the Rig Veda says the plants have long stalks and they are yellow, and they grow in the mountains. Sounds like mushrooms to me. Plus the metaphorical imagery when comparing Hindu God manifestations and psychedelic trips are far to similar to link the Soma with any other plant. But no, that does not necessarily mean people were tripping and thought Jesus was curing people. When you understand life to be light-energy bubbling from a surface of nothingness in waves of vibration, then you can concieve of the possibility of manipulation as far as material substance goes. The difference between water and wine IS a difference in frequency of rate of vibration. As for curing people, that ties in with Hindu cosmology and certain natural elements which radiate distinct curative combatants to fight the pulls of certain celestial bodies. But to get into cosmology would take years of learning which none of us in the West, nor most in India, have a proper background in. Besides that, there are people to this day in certain parts of the world who have performed "miracles'. But life, itself, is a miracle and should be enough proof to humble any human being to realize that they have nothing to do with this life other than to live it. But being that this is all based on 'belief' and it would, obviously, take a massive miracle to open the eyes of those who like to think they are in control of their own destiny, most of it is better left unsaid. So, sorry I said anything, Im just a psycho -
and all this time i thought it was the difference between 2 molecules of hydrogen bonded with oxygen and fermented fruit sugars.
