so i just got my 2gb of ram in today.. now i went to allocate the ram.. and had a choice of the 64, 128 or MaxDVMT.. i chose the 128.. but what is MaxDVMT? would i be better off with that choice or the fixed 128?
Depends what kind of software your running. Set it to MaxDVMT if you want your graphics card to run the rate of your ram. Otherwise go with the 128
guy said it was a techie question that most stoners will not understand, so instead of actuall help posts (like tokesalot) u get morons jibber jabbing
DVMT mode is memory that is dynamically allocated based on memory requests made by the application and are released back to the system once the application has terminated. personally, I'd go with 128.
128. I fucked up and bought a laptop with 512 mb ram and a video card that sucked its memory from ram. It goes to pagefile as soon as the computer boots. The laptop is nice just cant be used for intense graphics. I've had it a year almost.
i built mine and i never had to mess with allocating the ram. i guess thats because my dedicated video card has onboard memory. DVMT is for video memory if you have intigrated graphics. i only have 2 gigs in my computer but im thinking about adding two more. its pretty cheap nowdays on newegg for the same two sticks that i got for my computer when i first built it.
yea.. under $50 for a 2gb dual ram kit... cant fuckin beat a price like that.. especially when mainstream places like bestbuy you would pay over $200 for the exact same product
thanks for the info btw.... no shit.. some peoples children.. and i mean its not even like i was askin a tough question.. i've just never had to deal with intergrated gfx cards before and was not sure of the DVMT.. and people thought i was speaking another language.. personally i think people need to know more about computers.. especially if they are gonna use them.. same goes for everything else in life.. if you dont know shit about cars.. why drive'em
lol joker just to let you know i knew a decent amount about computers and cars and i know exactly what your talkin about there. i hate when people dont even know the basics and get ripped off so bad at repair shops. that goes for both car and computer repair shops. its quite sad really and for the most part computers and cars are fairly simple if you just think about them.
omg! someone else used google! now everybody knows my seceret =( but srsly im getting some dejavu because i remember SirTokes owning me in a dream or something. or im just rly fucked up. either way im trippin. srsly, srsly tho, most of the answers i dont know im generous enough to look it on on google and copy/paste for em. aha i love shotguns cheers for google!
^^^ i found that answer on google too before i posted this thread.. but that site didnt really answer the question of which setting was better
LOLOL Btw I love how cheap memory is nowadays. I just wish DDR was that cheap when I built my computer 6 years ago; gonna make an upgrade in a couple months, before every piece of software is 64-bit only, lol.
