First of all I think it is horrible how you all suffer many of the same persecutions in your board as the Christians do... I am not here to talk about such things. I wrote a college paper about Rastafari at a faith, but there is something I never understood... Why is the speech so different? The use of "I" or "I&I" and "seen?" and things of that nature... I was just curious about the signifigance of this.
The I&I thing is in the FAQ... i dont think any one is being "persecuted" either, all though im not sure there are very many rastas on this board to persecute...
Yeah... and what's there to persecute about Rastafari anyway? Peace, One Love, all that? Sounds pretty close to the ideals of this forum to me. Only thing would be radical anti-drug fascists (of which many do exist in the so-called "New Age"/hippie community) being against the use of cannabis.
Actually I have come across alot of people within the "hippy" community that were against many of the Rasta ideals. Including be against ganja and I even found a person who claimed to be a peace activist who was against the idea of One Love, I think his argument was that you couldn't love everyone the same because some people were ignorant and intolerant, I thought it was a bit hypocritical though
Yep cause that's exactly the argument the intolerant people use - you can't love everyone the same. Boils down to "you're different, you don't share my opinions so I hate you". Hypocrisy. Personally, I see ganja not so much as a "sacred" herb, but definitely not something to be mindlessly indulged in, same as all drugs. But do I hate people who indulge all the time? No. Do I hate people who don't indulge at all? Nope.
