Smoking marijuana actually increases your long-term memory.

well ive known people that ar ecomplte fucking retards that smoke weed, i know people who smoke all the time every day and get straight a's,

for me it makes me look at life in a different way, it expands my mind to an extent.

itts all up to the intent of the individual in my opinion, at least with weed and psychedelics, harder drugs can fuck your shit up.

Well, I think it makes me brilliant! It really opens my mind, as well as enhancing my long term memory...I don't study at all and I can memorize 20+ words within 15 minutes, go to class, and take a test right after...and get 104%! I can still remember them today! And I have to do that every week! It does make me slower to respond sometimes though, but only if I smoke a lot first. When I'm high I read super slow (and when I'm not high I read exceptionally fast!) Also when I'm high, I can't type to save my life! That just took me like 3 minutes to write!

well I personally dont really care about school as much as I should.
    current grades tho
Eng 10- B (I had honors 10 last year and failed a semester)
    Ap Music Theory- A
    Chem- F, maybe a D now.. I've been doing my hw :)
    Spanish 2- B
    Study Hall- nap time :)
    Eng 11- A
    Alg 2- F

I mean I do good in general... I just suck at hard math and have no real interest in learning shit like 2s23p4 blah blah in chemistry. I mean I'll passs both those classes cause I'll end up cheating on the next couple tests and the final but it doesnt mean im not still flat dumb in both subjects. Anywho, im a smart guy, everyone one will tell you that... BUUUTTTT. Im not as motivated as I used to be. I definetely think music has become more important to me tho... thus the A in Ap music theory and the reason why im practing more on the guitar.

I think it makes me more honest with myself. I'm not sure why, but I'm guessing that the inherent hedonism that marijuana propagates makes it easier to ignore the obnoxious (but often convenient) fallacies that plague behavior in the West, and probably in most other cultures too.

I never smoke during the day or in social situations, so I have no idea how I'd respond to the demands of my day to day routine and expectations while.

It depends on the person I think. I know kids that changed ALOT by smoking weed. My best friend since I was a kid started smoking before I did, and now he can't really go a day without it. It is the driving factor in his life. And he just acts different now. And his grades dropped too. I think in a certain percentage of people, it can make you alittle crazy, if you do enough. But in most people I don't think it has that much of an effect on intelligence. I did learn though, that if someone is always learning things, like in school, and they're always high, that if they're not high they won't learn nearly as well, because they're used to learning when they're high. I think that grades drop for kids when they smoke because, especially in the beginning, it is an activity for them, and when they do that every day after school, homework comes second, and they'll only start doing homework if they "have time". But as far as straight intelligence, I don't think it hurts you. Weed kind of gives some kids a lack of motivation for school work, partly because weed becomes a more important part of their life.

I smoke about 11 grams of potent sensi a week and have smoked that much give or take a few grams since I was 12 years old. I'm enrolled in college, keep up on my academics, am able to maintain a relationship with a beautiful and intelligent girl, am able to maintain my finances, have my own place and am involved in a variety of activist organizations. I would say that cannabis has no negative effect on me although it does not make me breathe any easier. I think that if you have issues with motivation to begin with marijuana is probably not for you because it is definately not going to give you ambition and in many ways it makes one content with less than active situations so depending on your personality... it could make you satisfied with not wanting to expand your intelligence (thus allowing people to assume your stupid) but that is def. not the herb's fault it is yours because I smoke plenty of herb.. more than most and have never been content with sitting on my ass, eating fast food and watching TV.

Marijuana produces immediate, temporary changes in thoughts, perceptions, and information processing. The cognitive process most clearly affected by marijuana is short-term memory. In laboratory studies, subjects under the influence of marijuana have no trouble remembering things they learned previously. However, they display diminished capacity to learn and recall new information. This diminishment only lasts for the duration of the intoxication. There is no convincing evidence that heavy long-term marijuana use permanently impairs memory or other cognitive functions.

I think shitty weed make you dumb for a while. Not like permanent, but if you smoke like 1/8 of bad pot you're fucking slow and retarded for the rest of the day. At least I am.

Oh and History of Philosophy in the Modern World is also quite an interesting class to toke before. Pretty much all the great questions in the history of theoretical philosophy are discussed. Good stuff.

I dont think it makes you smarter or dumber, I just know that I dont do math anymore. I cant sit and concentrate on a problem that might take ten minutes to accomplish then look at the answer (a random #) and be like what the fuck did I do that for!

It's all about your personality. Weed isn't going to make you lazy, you are going to make yourself lazy. You can smoke weed and be hard working. You can smoke weed and be lazy as shit. The problem is, a lot of people smoke weed and are lazy as shit. Is this the fault of the weed? No. Its the fault of the person. A lot of people watch TV and are lazy but you can't exactly blame the TV. Thats a cop-out. People will say that this is not true and tell a sad story about a teenager who's grades went down because he started smoking weed. There are many cases like that, that is a fact. But you cannot blame the weed for doing that! That is the fault of the person for being irresponsible. When I was a teen, I smoked weed probably twice a week and my grades were always in the "A's" and "B's".

On the other hand, weed (in my opinion) can make you smarter. I use the term smarter loosely. Smoking weed does expand your mind and can change your views on the world. It can make you a more interesting person with interesting things to say.

People who claim weed is going to dumb you down are just saying that in order to have something to blame other than themselves. But I say, if you are not willing to take responsibility and ABUSE marijuana by LETTING it take you over, then you will become dumber. Its completely up to you if you want to be a lazy stoner or a productive stoner.
