A few times I have had a dream where I die.. One that i remember very well is one where I am running from someone, and he is chasing me. I fall and he catches up.

I look up at him and say "why?"..then he lifts his gun up and unloads 3 bullets into me...I looked down and felt the blood.. Then he took one more shot into my heart and all I saw after that was complete darkness. I knew I was dead..I then woke up

What does it mean and has anyone had similar experiences like this where you are killed? or do you wake up before you get killed?

    Hi j_red,

I thought it means as much as you may think of, as dreams do hold multiple messages often. But where does the dream get you ? This is where the answers are. It's the same in waking life.

Sometimes we are asked to move deeper into the mystery of life ... as instead of explanations, we are offered change.

And death is change ... death is not the enemy. He walks hand in hand with life. The hurts we experience ask us to heal and grow with, and thus become more whole inside. This too is change.

The others also those who shot you may be the reflection of your own search of the beauty of life and the wonder which holds the frame of all temporary ... a greater depth to tap into that helps you see beyond the contradictions.

In the end, it is what you make of it and how far you allow change to walk with you all along your days and dreams. And no matter which kind of bullet comes your way ... make it a blessing ...

    Just thoughts.

i had a similar dream , at least you dont even know the guy who killed you, i dreamed that my dad killed me with a pair of scisors that he had plunged into my breast ??? you wont imagine the pain when i woke up, it was a nightmare for sure,,,
well about death in general its said that when you dream about some one else who dead (but he is still alive in reality)this is not a big deal , it just means that his bad side is gone...but when u dream about urself dead i dont know exactly what it is...

It depends on how you die. Jumping off of a cliff is an indicator of anxiety and fear of something you know is going to happen in a set period of time like a presentation in front of others, or a test, or any kind of challenge. But the death you experience in your dream is the avalanche of a pursuer. You are either going through a dramatic change in your life, or you are feeling overwhelmed by somthing in your life. Much like a dream were you are drowning.

nope. my dreams are always first person and i've never bit the big one in any of them.

i think i've been in some situations where i've come pretty close. but generally i'm automaticlly teleported out of harms way any time i don't consciously choose to first.

Yes, I had many times quite different dreams about dying. Well, what can I say? About one month ago I dreamed about my clinical death. This experience was amazing! I felt some strange physical changes inside of me.... With my mind I realised this fact about clinical death. I remember that one thought run through my head during this dream and it was - At last! I`m free! I felt relief! I think that these dreams about death symbolises your inner changes not real death! Why I think so? Before this dream quite long time I struggled with painful memories and some events from my past... This dream "set me free". That`s my opinion!

I would think dreams about death signify the ressentment toward bearing responsibility. The ressentment toward choice.

This is real strange, but I dreamt I had become my grandma and died.

Well, that's an obvious transference. How's your relationship to your grandma?

She had passed away when I was in sixth grade (I'm a junior now). The dream had to be during last summer if I remember correctly. I barely knew her, but what I remember best was her warm personality.

Well, you explained it. Becoming your grandmother and joining her in death is the wish to having gotten to know the qualities she represents to you.

You may resent her simultaneously, for qualities you may not possess.

Would you describe yourself as having a warm personality?

Alternate take: your grandmother represents an emotion that is repressed. Perhaps that which you associate with a "warm personality".

Death can be an unleashing....a letting go. A freedom. A lack of repression. Were you scared when you died?

    My guess is not.

You're correct, but it it felt painful. That's hardly the oddest thing during my entire dream, because I followed the death by "waking up" on my bed, walking to my sisters bed and demonstrating to a school-friend that my grandma gave birth on that very bed. I then starting playing my cousin's Nintendo DS, fell asleep, awoke on my bed, fell asleep, and after the darkness, I woke up for real.
No bs, I talked about it w/ others that day.

    Let's see...

Possible symbols: The Nintendo may be symbolic of agression or adventure...it may also signify something about self-esteem.

The bed must be symbolic of resolved emotions. Rest.

The constant waking up and falling asleep --- evolving emotions, unresolved.

    Grandma --- warm emotions.

school-friend and sister --- are superego or id.

Wild guess: You are subconsciously struggling (Nintendo, waking life) with a repressed part of yourself represented by "grandmother" and "bed" and "death." Sister and school-friend represent repression; notice you had to "demonstrate" to your friend.

If you want to delve deeper --- concentrate on what feelings your grandma arouses in you. Try to describe it different ways and make associations with that feeling. Then in your associations, check to see if there is conflict. Then think of what you may subconsciously be "gaining" (Freud - secondary gain) from the repression of that conflict.

    My two cents.

oh i hate those, the ones where you die and instantly wake up in a sweat,
breathing hard (and finding it hard to believe you're still breathing at all!)

Haha, that's funny, I usually sleep when I'm under stress. I'm sure that's a terrible habit, b/c I get sleepy too often, especially at the wrong times.
I'm not sure what you mean by the second part, but for the most part, I think of: my cousins that were close to her, how they missed her and were greatly affected by her death, how she was kind at all times and my father whom cared deepy for her would visit her every now and then and how I tagged along, and I remember playing games with my cousins during our visits, that was pretty fun too.

Actually I had a dream last night where I died. (well almost) I was standing in line at a place outside to get food with my girlfriend. All of the sudden I got shot in the back of the head. She didn't hear it and my eyes went up into my head. I fell down and she screamed and saw all the blood. After that I could faintly hear her screaming but in my head I was talking to God asking for him to just end it and take me up. I was screaming and repenting for any sins until all of the sudden he told me to shut up and listen. I could hear my girlfriend screaming and I felt her holding onto me telling me to not give up. Then I woke up (end of dream) in kind of a shock. It all felt very real.
