Boycott the Olympics !

We should boycott the Olympics to be held in China '08 because of their continuing human rights abuses.I will refuse to watch them or support them in any way.

 

I could agree to this.

Sports betting is about a third of my life, so fuck you I'm watching the scores.

 

I am boycotting them for many reasons. China has a horrible human rights record, it does not even have freedom of religion. They did nothing to help the situation in Myanmar and now they want to choose the next Dali Lama.

These are going to be the biggest propaganda Olympics since 1936.

 

I remember when that activist group dropped that huge sign over the great wall... they were arrested. nice.

 

They are enabling the agressors in Darfur, Sudan.

 

I'd boycott but I already don't care about the olympics. Or any sports for that matter. But Myanmar, Darfur, Human Rights and lead paint are more than reason enough.

 

I'm in on the boycott action. I don't care about the olympics and wasn't going to watch it anyway, but now I'll make a point not to watch it.

 

Torture in Gitmo,the nation of Iraq in ruins, a desimated native population of your own, your always telling the world, "do as we tell you or we'll kill you", maybe you should boycott your own ass first.Knowing so little about the world you swallow these lies about abuses, and support Bush.

This week, someone forwarded me a PETA video documenting horrific cruelty to cats and dogs in China... its really horrible. I was in tears.
I decided that the best way to gain awareness for the issue was to create a sort of "poll petition" on the subject.

Hey, I'm from Canada and I will still boycott the Olympics in China. I realize you're from China, and you're offended. The facts are that China is not a socially progressive country and it causing harm in many different areas. I think you're really ignorant to say that these people are "swallowing lies about abuses because of their support for Bush". I don't support Bush, and I'm not American. These FACTS are not LIES about abuse. I would put pride second to truth and educate yourself current events in China, that is, if your government will let you.

 

Norman Bethune was Canadian, he is a hero in China, he was a doctor and a field medic for the Red Army on the Long March. He died like so many others did for China back then, he was a personal friend of Mao.They made a film about him a few months ago.

It depends on what your goal is. If it is to get EVERYONE to boycott the olympics than you are probally right. However even if 1/100 people boycott the olympics it is better than nothing. I would really like to see some nations refuse to enter the olympics.

China needs to smarten up, and I agree that America is just as bad.

Lol. That isn't a personal attack. I think you need to try again. Do you know what "ignorant" means? It doesn't mean "asshole" or "jerk". It means you're talking about something that you have no related education in and it shows based on your comments. That is what ignorant comments are. You said that these people were "swallowing lies about abuses because of their support for Bush". That was ignorant because a) there is no evidence that they are "swallowing lies", and b) there is no evidence to suggest these peoples' opinions are because of "their support for Bush".

Because there is no evidence, those comments are ignorant. Do you understand now?
