Has anyone read The Case for Christ? It only has three chapters trying to prove Jesus was God, but after only the 1st chapter....I'm convinced. I was strongly Aganostic until like yesterday, but now I strongly feel bad for my sins and want to accept Christ. Anyway, just wanted to say it's a good book.
Outstanding, chica17! Be sure to let us know when you have questions! A good place to post to get away from all the debating would be The Hallowed Tree
hey gr8 to hear it, i hpoe u learn to understand more of it. any questions im here, and sos all of us lot XXXX
just coz she was strongly agnostic,it dnt mean she was stubborn to hear the truth.......sometimes if u dnt bel;ieve in something, its just because u hav lack of knowlege and understanding.......which she discovered and searched for ,for herself and i say well done to her!
Stranger things have happened, my man! My best friend from high school was the worst trouble maker you could imagine, sold drugs, blew stuff up, vandalized, stole, bullied, the whole nine yards. He watched a video on the life of Christ and came in the next day completely reformed. Gave all his money to charity, started talking to people who wanted to listen downtown, cut off his hair so that a larger percentage of people would take him seriously. He's now a youth minister, probably the most genuinly nice person I know, and a shining example (imo) of what a christian should be. He even almost converted me, alas, I've my doubts. That being said, I'm glad for you Chica17, for finding spiritual enlightenment!
my friend gave me the next book in the series i believe, the Case for Faith. I would already consider myself a christian but not a fundamentalist so I don't believe in a lot of what this book says. For example, they talk about Ghandi and the fact that he would be in hell if he didn't choose to accept christ before his death. my view on that is do we really have to consciously 'accept' jesus in order to actually have jesus in our hearts? what other motivation would ghandi have had to act so selflessly? satan? i doubt it.
I'm sorry, and don't want to seem like a party-crasher here, but the Case For Christ was one of the worst apologetical books I've read for Christianity ever, with perhaps the exception of two (Why I Believe and Evidence That Demands A Verdict). There are many atheistic critiques of the CFC - you can find one on the Secular Web, and another written by Earl Doherty. The only redeeming quality of the book was William Craig, and even he gets torn apart by Doherty's response in "Challenging The Verdict". I would suggest, before diving into Christianity, that you read the critiques against Strobel's interviewee's that he doesn't provide, and then decide whether or not his "evidences" stand to reason. Sounds fair to me, at least. - Laz
Apparently people have become christian (and a range of otehr beliefs) by taking lots of DXM (cough syrup drug). You christians should preach drug use! Anyway Id like ot read this book. I am a strong athiest and so i cannot believe in god, simply because of what I have come to understand.
congratulations...any questions you have PM me and i will do my best to help you find the answers.... roly.xxx
