Ron Paul is far from my ideal canidate. He isn't even my ideal Republican canidate. I did however stumble across this video, and thought the Paul supporters might appreciate it. http://quicksilverscreen.com/watch?video=16044
I disagree with him on, Immigration, Abortion, a myriad of Education, Healthcare, and taxation and trade issues. I don't really want to lay all the issues I disagree with him on out right now. Let's pick an example. he wants to shut down the Department of Education.
What is wrong with that? The US was number one in education prior to the Federal government getting involved and creating this department.
What ever would happen to this country if it wasn't for the mass-indoctrination of young, impressionable children? After all, the government only wants a questioning, critically thinking public... right? Geez, if the Department of Education was abolished, children might actually grow up with the ability to think for themselves. Gosh, what an atrocity that would be.
The Department of Education had little control of the content of what is taught in school. Rather, they are responsible for some federal funding to schools *which is small* and enforcing things like privacy and civil rights laws. Someone ensuring schools can't be segregated. The most vile forms of bureaucracy.
i don't see how you can disagree on touchy issues. instead of telling what you can and can't do, he leaves that up to the state.
It is kind of funny how people will just assume something is good for them without really knowing why they think it is good. I guess that is an example of tacid knowledge in a way.
Is anyone else having problems watching the video? For me it will play for about 30 seconds, then stop, then go really slow, then play about 30 more seconds, repeat.
I felt I made it clear, although brief, why I believe the Department of Education is beneficial. Financial aid for post secondary education, which I believe should be publicly supported anyway. Also it's responsible for privacy and civil rights laws. And tacit is spelled with a 't' friend.
The Department of Education was created in 1980. Was segregation an issue at that time? Is it an issue today? As for protecting privacy and civil rights, it seems like the ACLU does a better job with that.
College aid was, and still is an important issue they handle. And I think the last time a segregation case went to the supreme court was in June.
IF that's true then I'm of the opinion that the DoE has NOT helped segregation issues. If they can't come up with a solution in 27 years, they never will. this is pretty much the same scenario with most government agencies. they're too big to manage and can't get the job done properly if at all. i'm with Ron Paul on this all the way, pare down the bloated bureaucracy.
