ok so... this guy in a video makes super tight dreads fast. how does he do it? 1st http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3056537747632888340 2nd http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8561986972599977994 results http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-777255821789201951 anyone know how? is this easy to do or does this guy have crazy skills?
he is crocheting the hair into the shape of dreads. that was actually filmed in the philippines, the country i'm from. they are not officially dreads because the hair is not matted. my hair is matted, but i crochet to maintain and loose hairs.
not really. he's either using a really small crochet hook or a felting needle and just pulling the hairs into tangles. basically, just stick the hook through the hair, loop some around it, and pull it through the other side. there are plenty of crocheting/felting tutorials on this board if you look for them. personally, i think they tend to make kind of ugly looking dreads. not enough personality in them. and they always sort of have that broken-hair look to them. just my opinion, though, i'm sure plenty disagree.
they may look tight now, but when the guy washes they'll get looser. If I want to, I can make them tight like that too, but it's hell of a job!
those are crazy tight, it would be a lot of work. is he using just a crochet hook or is he backcombing or twist and ripping too? (im too lazy to watch the whole thing) anyway, i like mine better
