Do you know who Jimmy Shand is? Do you love fiddles and pipes? Mandolins, guitars, violins, lagerphones. If so I would love to meet you. cheers Hippymuso from Oz
Thanks for the reply Hailtothekingbaby, A lagerphone is an Aussie bush instrument. Home made. You get a big thick stick and nail hundreds of bottle tops to it, then you make a ridged stick and pull the ridged stick across the the stick with the bottle caps nailed to it, good rythym instrument. Wow, its interesting to meet someone who's into pipes who's only 21. Do you play? I tried learning the pipes once. I found it easy (apart from the blowing bit lol) because I had already learned recorder. But, the leaders told me that I was playing it wrong, putting the wrong fingers on the wrong holes (sheesh). So I turned my back on them and played the tune again. They said it sounded right, but was still wrong 'cos i used the wrong fingers. I've been teaching music for over 30 years and in my experience I didnt care if the student played the thing with his nose, as long as you got the right sound. Anyway nice to meet you dude, catch you on the boards, cheers Hippy.
P.S. Sir Jimmy Shand. Scotland's foremost accordian player. My mentor. He taught me all the tunes I know on the accordian. He is a legend. Only died about 7 years ago. I was so sad when I found out that he'd died, but I did him proud, turned up his music full bore and emptied a bottle of Johnny Walker. cheers Hippy
